Add to a movie listLor Girl, (Persian: دخترِ لُر; Romanized as Dokhtar-e Lor), also known as The Iran of Yesterday and the Iran of Today, was the first sound film ever to be produced in the Persian language. In 1932, it was produced by Ardeshir Irani and Abdolhossein Sepanta under the Imperial Film Company in Bombay.
The movie starred Sepanta himself along with Roohangiz Saminejad, Hadi Shirazi and Sohrab Puri. The filming took only seven months to complete, and the movie arrived in Iran in October 1933. It was released at only two major theatres, Mayak and Sepah.
At the time, Iranians went to the cinema mainly to watch European short comedies, and animated features that were of a political nature. Lor Girl, as the first Iranian film with sound, was an instantaneous success and shows were ultimately sold out.
Synopsis
The movie is about Golnar, a young teahouse girl who was kidnapped as a child and taken to Lorestan with a clan of bandits living among the Lors. The leader of the thieves, Gholi Khan, is beginning to look at her with interest now she is a grown woman. At the teahouse, she meets a young man called Jafar who has been sent to Lorestan by the Iranian government to deal with the problem of banditry in the area. They fall in love, and plan to escape together. Gholi Khan catches on to their plans and beats up Jafar. Jafar rejects Khan's offer to join the bandits, so he is kidnapped and imprisoned. Golnar helps him escape and the couple attempt to flee.Actors

The film is a love story between a prince and a gypsy girl, based on a Parsi play written by Joseph David. David later served as a writer at Irani's film company. The story centres on an imaginary, historical royal family in the kingdom of Kumarpur. The main characters are the king and his two warring wives, Dilbahar and Naubahar. Their rivalry escalates when a fakir predicts that Navbahar will bear the king's heir.

Dans la première scène du film, nous voyons Ferdowsi qui par la fenêtre de sa maison regarde tristement le pont ruiné de la ville de Tus. À la cour du sultan Mahmoud Ghaznavi, Ferdowsi récite certaines parties de Shah Nameh. La vieillesse du poète est la fin de son histoire et se passe dans l’isolement et l’amertume. "Big" Jim Stevens, undisputed boss of the Chicago underworld, gets an unexpected birthday present from his ambitious lieutenant, Guy Gisborne. Instead of a stripper popping out of the cake, Big Jim gets shot by all the guests. With the mob boss out of the way, Gisborne takes over. Successful American lawyer Robert Hayward (William Holden) is in Kenya because his ex-wife Christine (Capucine) is having some problems with their eleven-year-old daughter Tina (Pamela Franklin), who has a great affinity with Africa, its customs and its wildlife. Tina spends much of her time in the company of the lion she raised from a cub. Christine has remarried and her new husband John Bullit (Trevor Howard), a former big-game hunter, now manages a large Kenyan animal preserve. Hayward and Bullit compete for the romantic affection of Christine and for the daughterly affection of Tina. The son of a local tribal chief sees Tina as a potential future wife, and his efforts to impress her prove to be disastrous.
