Jack Cardiff, OBE, BSC
(18 September 1914 – 22 April 2009) was a British cinematographer, director and photographer.
His career spanned the development of cinema, from silent film, through early experiments in Technicolor to filmmaking in the 21st century. He was best known for his influential colour cinematography for directors such as Powell and Pressburger, Huston and Hitchcock.
In 2000 he was awarded an OBE and in 2001 he was awarded an Honorary Oscar for his contribution to the cinema.

Jack Cardiff a travaillé notamment avec Michael Powell, Alfred Hitchcock, Albert Lewin, Joseph Mankiewicz, King Vidor. Pionnier de l'utilisation du procédé Technicolor, il fut, en 1951, directeur de la photographie de L'Odyssée de l'African Queen de John Huston, avec Katharine Hepburn et Humphrey Bogart.
Récompensé par deux Oscars, l'un en 1947 pour la photographie du Narcisse noir et l'autre en 2001 pour l'ensemble de son œuvre, il a également été nommé, en tant que directeur de la photographie, en 1956 pour Guerre et paix et en 1961 pour Fanny, et en 1960 comme réalisateur pour Amants et fils.
Jack Cardiff est mort en avril 2009 dans sa maison du Cambridgeshire à Ely, au sud de l'Angleterre, à l'âge de 94 ans.
