Naadodigal (Tamil: நாடோடிகள் ; English: Nomads) is a 2009 Indian drama film written and directed by Samuthirakani. The film stars Sasikumar along with Chennai 600028 fame Vijay Vasanth and Kallori fame Bharani in lead roles, with newcomers Ananya, Abhinaya and Malaysia-based Shanthini Deva enacting the lead female roles and Ganja Karuppu playing a pivotal role, providing comical relief. The plot focuses on a trio who attempt to unite their friend with his lover against the wishes of all families involved, and at heavy cost to themselves, only to realize that the lovers separate after a short while. The film released in June 2009, garnering highly positive reviews.

Synopsis

The film revolves around three characters – Karunakaran (Sasikumar), Paandi(Bharani) and Chandran (Vijay Vasanth). The trio eats, sleeps and parties together in Rajapalayam. They also have their individual ambitions in life.

The story begins on a rainy night, when Ilangkumaran(Sasikumar) and Nallavan(Allari Naresh) escape from a place and enter chennai with some suspense hidden behind their past. Karunakar (Ravi Teja), Malli (Allari Naresh) and Chandu (Siva Balaji) are close friends and each of them has individual goals. Karunakar is in love with his cousin (Priyamani) whose father wants him to get a government job first. Malli dreams of going to a foreign land as soon as he gets his passport, while Chandu aims to set up a Computer training centre and is in love with Karunakar’s sister Pavithra (Abhinaya). The trio enjoy life hanging out together. Karunakar’s friend Santosh (Surya Teja), son of a politician (Roja), is in love with his family’s arch rival's daughter. The three friends come forward to unite these love birds against all odds. In the process, Karunakar loses job and misses his cousin, Malli loses his hearing, and Chandu has his leg amputated. 10 days later, the married lovers seek divorce. The friends, who sacrificed so much to unite them, now teach them a lesson.

Major Mahadevan (Mohanlal) is an officer deputed to the National Security Guards (NSG). He has been assigned to counter-terrorism duties in Kashmir and commands an elite group of NSG commandos. He calls back his buddy Havildar Jaikumar (Jiiva) from his honeymoon because he has information about major activities of the militants; he feels Jaikumar is needed for the team. The commandos raid a mosque in civilian dress and seize a big collection of arms and explosives. Later, during an operation focused on some cottages near the Dal Lake, a commando in the team is killed and an outraged Jaikumar shoots down a captured terrorist who challenges the commandos. A human rights activist (Shwetha Menon) learns about this and threatens to file a complaint with the government. She later understands the situation and the sincerity of the commandos and decides not to proceed with the complaint.
