Nadodi Pattukkaran is a 1992 Tamil drama film directed by N. K. Vishwanathan. The film features Karthik and Mohini in lead roles. The film, produced by Sangili Murugan, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 15 May 1992.

Synopsis

Sundaram (Karthik), Thevar Ayya (M. N. Nambiar), Periya Madurai (Thyagu), Seedan (Charle), Vadivelu (Chinni Jayanth) and Annamalai (Manangatti Subramaniam) form a music troup. Sundaram is a jobless graduate who prefers making his living by singing than being unemployed. The group travel from village to village leaving their family. One day, the troup enters in a village where the robbers spreads terror amongs the villagers. The troup confront them and the police arrests the robbers. The troup becomes quickly popular. Geetha (Mohini), the daughter of the village head Sivathaya (Jaishankar), falls under the spell of Sundaram. Later, Geetha and Sundaram fall in love with each other, on the other side Geetha's family objects their love. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Rajappa (Karthik) is a young man who earns his livelihood by engaging in rowdyism. Despite pleas from his mother to stop him from engaging in nefarious activities, Rajappa is adamant on pursuing rowdyism. However when his mother herself becomes a victim of his doings, Rajappa promises his dying mother that he would stop such activities and pursue a different life. He subsequently moves to a village with the intention of leading a quiet, stable life; but on arrival, he realises that the village remains full of terror. The villagers are oppressed by a gangster Malaichami (Radharavi) and his family, though honouring his promise to his mother, Rajappa chooses to remain silent. The village's main entrepreneur, Duraisingam (Jaishankar), who has been a victim of Malaichami's cruel deeds, requests Rajappa to change his ways and deal with the gangster. Howvever, Rajappa refuses to commit himself and a helpless Duraisingam also gives up on his hope. Meanwhile, the atrocities of Malaichami grow wilder and uglier with every passing day and Rajappa is saddened by the plight of the villagers. He thinks of a way to deal with this terror without breaking his promise.

Kalimuthu (Ramarajan) is the lead singer of a group performing Villu Paatu. The village head (Shanmugasundaram) decides to reconstruct the tumbledown village temple and gives Kalimuthu responsibility for funding money. Finally, the music director Ilaiyaraaja helps them financially. Then, Kalimuthu approaches a reputed sculptor (M. N. Nambiar) from another village. The sculptor and his daughter Abhirami (Rani) come to their village. Later, Kalimuthu and Abhirami fall in love with each other. Abhirami's father wants to marry Abhirami to his nephew Rajasekharan (Chandrasekhar) while the village head's son Chelladurai (Vikas Rishi), a womanizer, has an eye for Abhirami. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.
