Synopsis
Ganesh (Parthiban), the product of a intercaste marriage, loses several prospective brides due to this and spends his time dreaming of marriage. On a busride to Chengalpattu to take up a promotion as bank manager, he is involved in an accident. The scene shifts to three months later when he finally shows up at Chengalpattu. Nandini (Devayani), living in the house opposite his, showers affection on him, giving him coffee, providing him with hot water, etc. But when he with his parents, visits her to talk about marriage, she rejects him. Revealing the real reason behind her attachment to Ganesh, she tells him of her ill-fated love affair with army officer Subramani (Ajith). Eager to send him on his way, Nandini sends a letter in Ganesh's name to Ganesh's home, accepting the latest girl they picked for him and Ganesh returns home to find arrangements for his wedding in full swing. Coincidentally, the girl turns out to be someone (Suvalakshmi) he had dreamed of marrying during his pre-Nandini days.Actors

The story revolves around Bharathi (R. Parthiepan), a worker for a rich Vellaisamy Thevar Zamindar (Vijayakumar). He comes from a lower caste and falls in love with the rich Zamindar's daughter Kannamma (Meena). Kannamma feels the same way, however their differing castes become a barrier, and as Kannamma's marriage is fixed to a wealthy man, Bharathi doesn't have the courage to express his disapproval or start a relationship with Kannamma. His allegiance to the Zamindar, along with his fear of the caste system make him unwilling to stop the marriage. Bharathi's sister, however, also falls in love with a rich young man from a neighbouring town, and their differing circumstances do not hinder them from forming a relationship. In the end, Kannamma commits suicide and Bharathi jumps into her funeral pyre kills himself (in reference to the past Hindu practice of sati).

Balu Mahendra (Naga Chaitanya) is always the top ranker in his college. Mahalakshmi (Tamanna), his cousin comes to Balu’s house to continue her studies. She is in awe of her Mr. Perfect 'Bava' and takes his help to achieve big in studies. Surprisingly, she surpasses him and becomes the first ranker. Balu gets deeply hurt by this and he resorts to cunning ways to deviate Mahalakshmi. But to his surprise Ajith (Anand) stands first this time. Meanwhile Mahalakshmi's father brings her a marriage proposal, but she doesn’t want to marry him. Balu and Mahalakshmi compromise by agreeing to help each other. Balu helps her in getting the proposal canceled and Mahalakshmi starts deviating Ajith from studies for the sake of Balu, but Balu gets tempted to her in bathroom. In 1970, a marine engineer Lenin (Cheran) from Calcutta comes across a Nagore girl Nadira (Padmapriya). Started with friendship, later seeded with love, Lenin mails a letter once a month. When Lenin came to Nagore, he was disappointed and sad as Nadira and her family left the place after selling their home. Years later, Mahesh (Aryan Rajesh), son of Lenin, found his father's hidden life from reading his diary. With help from his friend Shamsudeen (Ajai.R), He marches his way to find Nadira and deliver the letter to her. He comes to know that Nadira has shifted to Malaysia after marriage. He goes to Malaysia to meet her. Once he reaches her house, he is greeted by Nadira's son who welcomes him to the house. Nadira is now very old and asks Mahesh as to who he is and how does he know her? He replies saying he is Lenin's son and also informs her that his father died few years back. Nadira is grief-stricken. Mahesh gives her Lenin's last few letters which he could not post because he did not have Nadira's address. In those letters, Lenin has spoken about his journey to find Nadira after she and her family shifted from Nagore. He describes his pain and grief over not knowing about her situation during those days, and also about his father who coaxed him to marry another girl (played by Anupama Kumar), who is now his wife and is very understanding. Nadira then drops Mahesh to the airport and while on the way she request him to let her talk to his mother. Nadira and Mahesh's mother exchange good notes and then she finally drops him to the airport. While coming back, she is talking to her herself as well as to Lenin saying that she showed her anguish and punished her father by denying to marry anyone. She currently lives with her sister and her lovable family and apologises and promises Lenin that she will join him soon and never separate.

Romeo lives a privileged life as a celebrity with his widowed mother, in Bangalore, India. He receives considerable assistance and encouragement from Raj Mohan to dance and sing. After accidentally meeting, Mridula (Nagma) and Arun (Prabhu Deva) fall in love. The young couple both come from affluent families, and so, to test whether they will be suited for a long term relationship, they both decide to live together. However, a few months into their relationship, Arun and Mridula get in an accident and he passes away. A devastated Mridula is unable to get over her loss, and before long starts seeing Arun in strange visions everywhere she goes. Her family eventually decide that relocating to another country might help Mridula move on, and so they send her to the UK. Once she arrives there, she meets Mano, a young man attracted to her. She knows that her parents expect her to fall for Mano. But as she can't move on, she runs away. She meets a person who looks exactly like Arun. She follows him and finds out where he lives and works. Whenever she tries to talk to him, he denies his relationship with her and says he doesn't know her. However, she later finds out that her father had Arun sent away as he had helped with Arun's sister's marriage and had threatened to let it all go downhill for her. Arun moves to UK in hopes that he can forget about Mridula but he can't and when he meets her, he realises this. When Mridula's father finds out Arun is still alive, he tries to kill him. However he realises his mistake and lets the lovebirds reunite.
