Roy is a handsome black Surinam man who studies in the Netherlands. He is recalled by telegram to Suriname because his mother is dying. His Dutch girlfriend Karina (Willeke van Ammelrooy) lends him money for a plane ticket. Back in his homeland, Roy soon becomes obsessed with his own country and its culture. When he falls for the Hindu nurse Rubia, the conservative Hindu and African communities are in revolt. Roy will not return to the Netherlands to finish his studies, even if Karina comes to pick him up. His duty is in Suriname, he says.

In this complex spy caper, Nicole (Geneviève Bujold) is a Canadian broadcast journalist working on assignment in the former Soviet Union. She is there to cover a visit by the Canadian prime minister, but along the way she discovers an unethical experimentation on children involving the use of steroids, she is also involved in smuggling out a girl for emergency brain surgery. Things get complicated when in the process, she develops a romantic liaison with Lyosha (Michael York), a bureaucrat in the Soviet press corps whose job is to watch her during her stay. A rich businessman (Burgess Meredith) she knows happens to be in Russia at the same time, and she asks him to help her in the smuggling attempt.

Adrián, un jeune et brillant chef d'orchestre espagnol, s'est installé dans une immense maison en Colombie depuis peu où il dirige le philharmonique de Bogota. Une histoire démarre rapidement entre eux, et celle-ci vient s'installer dans la maison d'Adrián. Les enquêteurs commencent alors à s'intéresser à la disparition subite et inexpliquée de Belén, suspectant Adrián d'avoir commis le pire. Quant à elle, Fabiana est témoin de phénomènes étranges, se sent observée, et en vient à avoir peur de la demeure. Mais Belén n'est pas partie bien loin.
