Matt Kelly (Robert Ryan) is released from jail and skips town in his boat without paying outstanding storage fees. Back in his home town he is hired by his old friend Jim Kimmerly (Brian Keith), the head of the local salmon fishermen who have formed a canning co-operative. The fishermen are battling against an organised gang who are robbing the fishing traps. Matt however, short on cash, joins the raiders, whilst Jim, unaware of his duplicity, keeps covering for him amongst the other fishermen. Furthermore Kelly has his eyes upon Jim’s fiancée, Nicki (Jan Sterling). Kelly's recklessness eventually causes the loss of Kimmerly's fishing boat in a glacier avalanche. He tries to make amends for his misdemeanours in an act of self-sacrifice.

Taking place in 1910, during a fictional revolution in Honduras, Corbett was hired to ensure that a large sum of money came to the deposed political leader. Sylvia Sheppard (Ann Sheridan) and her wealthy husband Harry Sheppard (Zachary Scott) are unwilling hostages of Jim Corbett (Glenn Ford), who is accompanied through the jungle by several wanted criminals. U.S. intelligence agent Jim Carter is sent to Japan as a National Weekly Indicator journalist to find Taro Matsudo who is helping the Communists there. Matsudo happens to be Carter's college friend. In his hotel, Carter meets Steffi Novak, a mysterious woman who speaks six languages and wishes to accompany him. Together they both reach a place where Taro is present. However, he does not want to meet Jim. Back at his hotel, Jim receives a telegram informing him to reach Enoshima island. Here he meets Taro who refuses to divulge any information about his commander. He comes to know that Matsudo aspired to be a kamikaze pilot but when Japan surrendered during World War II he sided with the Communists. When Jim returns to his hotel room, he is beaten by a group of Japanese men who tell him to stay away from Taro.

Une voiture heurte un objet invisible; le sang se répand à partir d'une source invisible qui devient visible lorsque l'homme qui saigne, meurt. Il porte avec lui une note de suicide dédiée à son seul ami, qui est aussi un homme invisible. Un jeune reporter passionné traque Takemitsu Nanjo, un vétéran de la guerre qui gagne visiblement sa vie en se peignant le visage comme celui d'un clown et en portant des pancartes publicitaires. Son voisin préféré est une petite fille aveugle dont la mère se heurte à des gangsters locaux. Les gangsters terrorisent la ville en tant que "gang invisible", s'enveloppant dans des écharpes et des trench-coats afin d'être visibles pour leurs victimes, même s'ils sont censés être invisibles en dessous. Une fois qu'ils découvrent Nanjo, qui défend ses seuls amis, ils le battent et le laissent pour mort.
