Synopsis

The Producer of a serial(Jagathi Sreekumar) is killed during its shooting. The director(Mukesh) is accused for it as he is the Producer's Son-in-law.

The film starts by displaying an antic of Keshavan (Thilakan) who is an inmate of the Kakkanad Mental Hospital. Two other inmates are Benny (Mukesh) and Krishnankutty (Jagathy Sreekumar), along with the female inmate played by Philomena. The late Hakeem Rawther too plays as an inmate in a cameo role. By profession Benny is an artist, Krishnankutty is an auto-mechanic and Keshavan had retired from military service. The trio chance to come across a newspaper report that the Hindi film star Amitabh Bachchan is visiting Ernakulam City for film shooting, which is near the place they stay. They are soon joined by Venu (Siddique), acting as the brother of Balan (N.N.Balakrishnan) who takes him to the mental hospital. Venu is a good singer but suffers from a compulsive obsession to singing.

The story is about Thilakan and his two sons, one of them blind, Unni (Sreenivasan), and the other one deaf, Balan (Mukesh). The story takes a turn when the sons marry and their in-laws try to steal the family money. Krishnankutty (Jagathy) is the clever but honest caretaker for the deaf and blind siblings who is constantly at odds with their in-laws. Unnikrishnan (Dileep) owns an old bus, received as a compensation for his father's road accident and he is facing lots of consequences due to the pathetic condition of the bus. He sold many valuable things to maintain this bus. His friend Sundareshan (Harisree Asokan) was his only companion and the cleaner of the bus. A mouse had eaten the passport of Sundareshan and had spoiled his chances of going abroad. Some part of the film's comedy involves Sundareshan running behind this mouse for his revenge. A live TV show, in which Unni bad mouth of a Traffic Sub Inspector, Veerappan Kurup (Cochin Haneefa) lands him in more trouble, when the former commands Unni to leave the city with the bus. Sreedhara Kaimal, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, and advocate and well wisher tries to him help him with a bank loan to run a mobile kitchen (Tattukada) from his bus.
