Pedro is a 2008 American film about the openly gay, Cuban-American AIDS educator and television personality, Pedro Zamora, who became famous as a castmember on MTV's reality television series, The Real World: San Francisco. It was produced by Bunim-Murray Productions, the same company that produces The Real World, and is their first scripted project. It was produced by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland, written by Dustin Lance Black and Paris Barclay (story) and directed by Nick Oceano. The film stars Alex Loynaz, Justina Machado and Hale Appleman.
The film was an Official Selection at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival.
The film aired on MTV on April 1, 2009 before the season finale of The Real World: Brooklyn.
Synopsis
The film opens in medias res, with 22-year-old AIDS activist Pedro Zamora in his New York City hotel room in 1994, getting ready for an appearance on CBS. His contact calls him to ask why he has not arrived at the studio, but Zamora, disoriented, does not know who he is. Hotel security subsequently finds him lying unconscious on the floor.Actors

In 1985, Dallas electrician and rodeo cowboy Ron Woodroof is diagnosed with AIDS and given 30 days to live. He initially refuses to accept the diagnosis, but remembers having unprotected sex with an intravenous drug-using prostitute. He is soon ostracized by family and friends, gets fired from his job, and is eventually evicted from his home. At the hospital, he is tended to by Dr. Eve Saks, who tells him that they are testing a drug called zidovudine (AZT), an antiretroviral drug which is thought to prolong the life of AIDS patients—and is the only drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for testing on humans. Saks informs him that in the clinical trials, half the patients receive the drug and the other half are given a placebo, as this is the only way they can determine if the drug is working.

Gia Carangi (Angelina Jolie) is a Philadelphia native who moves to New York City to become a fashion model and immediately catches the attention of powerful agent Wilhelmina Cooper (Faye Dunaway). The film opens with a flashforward to moments after the shooting. This is quickly followed by a scene with Valerie Solanas (Lili Taylor) in custody for the shooting of Andy Warhol (Jared Harris). The film then takes us back to a time when Valerie is living in New York making a living as a sex worker. A series of further flashbacks point to her difficult childhood, and success in studying psychology at college. Here, Valerie discovers that she is a lesbian, that she can write, and that she has a distinctive view of the world. This leads her to New York City and its downtown underworld. Through her friend Stevie (Martha Plimpton), she meets Candy Darling (Stephen Dorff), who in turn introduces her to Andy Warhol.

En 1970, Farrokh Bulsara, un immigré parsi, est étudiant en art et travaille comme bagagiste à l'aéroport de Londres-Heathrow. Un soir, dans une petite boîte de nuit, il découvre sur scène le groupe de rock Smile, alors composé du guitariste Brian May, du batteur Roger Taylor et du chanteur-bassiste Tim Staffell. Ce dernier annonce aux deux autres qu'il a décidé de quitter la formation pour rejoindre un autre groupe qui lui semble plus prometteur. Après le concert, Farrokh se présente à Brian May et Roger Taylor, qui sont alors dépités. Ils ne prennent pas au sérieux ce jeune homme au look étrange et Roger Taylor, alors étudiant en médecine dentaire, se moque même de sa denture si particulière, mais Farrokh leur fait une démonstration de ses capacités en chant qui les fait changer d'avis. Après des débuts hésitants, ils sont rejoints par le bassiste John Deacon. Le groupe se renomme Queen, alors que Farrokh choisit comme nouveau nom Freddie Mercury, malgré les réticences de son père. Le groupe commence à se faire remarquer, notamment par les performances scéniques de Freddie, qui demande par ailleurs en mariage Mary Austin, une vendeuse de vêtements qu'il fréquente depuis plusieurs mois et qui l'aide à créer ses costumes de scène.
