Philosophy of a Knife is a 2008 Russian-American horror film written, produced, shot, edited, and directed by Andrey Iskanov. It covers the Japanese Army's Unit 731, mixing archival footage, interviews, and extremely graphic reenactments of experiments performed there.
The film is four hours long, is presented in two parts (Part one and Part two), is in English, and shot in black and white. The interviews are shot in color and have English subtitles.

An earthquake leaves the California coastline in ruins and reduces the beaches to a state of chaos. A group of Neo-Nazis led by Adolf (Brenner), the self-proclaimed "Führer of the new beach," takes advantage of the resulting chaos by fighting off several rival surfer gangs to seize control of the beaches. Meanwhile, an African American oil well worker named Leroy (Harden) is killed by the surf Nazis while jogging on the beach. Leroy's mother, "Mama" Washington (Neely), devastated by the loss of her son, vows revenge. The story takes place entirely during a few months in 1970, in the city of São Paulo. Set in 1973, a young couple become entangled in a Chilean military coup at a time when there is much protest on the streets against General Augusto Pinochet. When Daniel is abducted by Pinochet's secret police DINA, Lena tries to find and save her husband. During the 1977 El Salvadoran presidential elections, amid public unrest and a guerrilla uprising, the military regime sends death squads to detain, torture and kill any people who speak out against its human rights record. The film opens in April 1945 with the death of Franklin Roosevelt and the succession of Harry Truman to the presidency. In Europe, the Germans are close to surrender, but in the Pacific the bloody battle for Okinawa is still underway and an invasion of the Japanese home islands is not foreseen until the autumn. American battle casualties have almost reached 900,000, with Japanese casualties at 1.1 million, and some 8 million Asian civilians have died in the war that began with Japan's invasion of Manchuria in 1931.

Il ne s´agit pas d´être pro-américain ou pro-japonais, j´ai simplement voulu raconter la vérité. » Une vérité technologique, scientifique, militaire et politique qui se dessine dans les trois semaines précédant l´attaque, alors que le premier essai nucléaire vient de se dérouler dans le désert du Nouveau-Mexique, aux États-Unis. Le spectateur se retrouve alors dans la pièce où est prise la décision ultime, à bord de l´Enola Gay pendant son trajet fatidique, à l´intérieur de la bombe au moment de l´explosion, puis dans les rues dévastées d´Hiroshima.

On a volcanic island near the kingdom of Hetvia rules Count Dakkar, a benevolent leader and scientist who has eliminated class distinction among the island's inhabitants.
