The film is a socio-centric story of education system that existed in the period 80's - 90's in Kerala. Divakaran, in search of a good job acquires fake certificates from Mysore TTC and becomes a teacher in a government aided lower primary school run by a corrupt manager. The thatched school is deplorable in every conditions. Children mainly comes for the food that is served. The teachers come mainly for getting the money and do not care about the kids or the facilities in the school. The corrupt manager runs the school as a business for getting grants and making money from appointments. In the climax the hero relaises his mistake from guilt which was seeded by his father and took form when the dilapidated school causes death of 3 students. In the turn of events Divakaran surrenders to police for using a fake teaching certificate. The narration is typical "Sreenivasan" style, through a cozy blanket of comedy, he explains the socioeconomic & political milieu existing in Kerala through a set of events. It is a relevant movie since contemporary incidents of the same nature are revealed through newspapers and increasing day by day even in the 21st century.

A henpecked politician wants his name attached to a new bridge, even if that means destroying another, perfectly serviceable bridge. This politician Dussasana Kuruppu (Bharath Gopi) is the president of the village. He along with his other members tries to demolish the bridge on advice of his fellow party member, his right hand and crooked mind Sikhandi Pillai (Nedumudi Venu). The opposition leader Ishak Tharakan (Thilakan) makes moves to thwart this and to capture the position of the village presidency. As a compromise step, both groups agree to relocate the bridge to a distant location so that not only a new bridge, a new road also will be needed to reach the bridge.The two tenders, one for bridge and one for road is given to two local contractors, one belongs to the ruling party and the other one supported by opposition. Ultimately the bridge is built and opened to public on the same day of the marriage of Dussasana Kurup's daughter and the Bridge contractor. The marriage function is attended by many including the minister of state for public works department and the entire people who came for marriage walks through the bridge causing it to collapse killing the crippled Kathorayan (Sreenivasan). The film ends by showing the broken bridge in the background.

Revathi's (Lizy) parents separated when she was young; she was raised by her mother who taught her that her father (Bharath Gopi) was a bad man. Years later, while on his deathbed, her father makes a last wish to see his daughter. Revathi refuses to go, so her orphan friend Susanna (Radha) goes in her place to fulfill his wish. Revathi (Menaka) comes to the city from a small town in search of a job and to have a good life and as it is with everyone her problem starts with finding a house. Revathi accidentally meets Shyam, who too is in search of a house through the common milk-boy, Chikku (Baiju). Chikku offers them both a house to rent if they are ready to pose as husband and wife in front of the landlord.
