Infected is a 2013 American action / horror film written and directed by Filip Maciejewicz, in his directorial debut. The film stars Bo Linton, Eugenia Kuzmina and Adrian Voo. The film had its Los Angeles premiere on March 9, 2013 at the historic New Beverly Cinema. The international premiere was held on March 18, 2013 in Hong Kong, as part of HKTDC Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART). It was subsequently screened at various film festivals in the United States before it was released internationally on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Synopsis

A group of seven strangers survive and escape from an isolated area of Los Angeles that has been infected by a strange, human changing virus.

After a comet passes near the earth, most of the population becomes cannibalistic zombies. Survivors gather at a military complex, where they discover that an alien parasite borne of the comet infects the zombies. The group includes Trent, a preacher, and his infected brother, Herbert; Simon, a gay man; Steve and Mimi, a young couple; Chad, a man who has been bitten on the arm; an ex-porn star and her daughter; a rancher; and several soldiers. As the infection worsens, the parasite causes men's genitals to fall off and virgin births among the females. After an unsuccessful attempt to forage for supplies that results in the deaths of several people, Steve attempts to save Mimi from the infection. As he anesthetizes her with alcohol prior to operating on her, the alien organism flees from her body. Realizing that alcohol can save them, they become drunk and use the rancher's whiskey supplies to destroy the zombies.

During the original outbreak of the Rage Virus, Don, his wife Alice, and four other survivors hide in a barricaded cottage on the outskirts of London. They hear a terrified boy pounding at their door, and let him in. A few minutes later, they discover that the infected have followed the boy to them. The infected attack and kill most of the survivors, while Don, Alice, and the boy are chased upstairs. Don is separated from Alice and when the boy is seen hiding in the closet. Alice rushes to get the boy, while Don tells her to just leave him. Soon the infected break into the room and after Alice pleading with Don to "help us", he decides to leave, abandoning them. Don desperately sprints to a nearby motorboat and narrowly escapes.

In rural Texas, go-go dancer Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) decides to quit her low-paying job and find another occupation. When Muldoon learns that Abby has an extra supply on hand, he attempts to take Abby hostage, and Abby intentionally releases the gas into the air. The gas reaches the town and turns most of its residents into deformed bloodthirsty psychopaths, referred to as "sickos" by the surviving humans. The infected townspeople are treated by the sinister Dr. William Block (Josh Brolin) and his unhappy, unfaithful bisexual anesthesiologist wife Dakota (Marley Shelton) at a local hospital.
