Rama Paduka Pattabhishekam (The Coronation Of Lord Rama's Slippers) is a 1932 Telugu mythological drama film directed by Sarvottam Badami. Badami was contracted by Sagar Movietone (Sagar Film Company) to direct Rama Paduka Pattabhishekham in Telugu. The success of the film established him as a director. He went on to direct Galava Rishi (Tamil), and Shakuntala in Telugu for Sagar Movietone. Suryanarayana Yadavalli, who was a renowned stage actor played the lead role of Lord Rama in Rama Paduka Pattabhishekam. The film starred C. S. R. Anjaneyulu, Surabhi Kamalabai, Yadavalli Suryanarayana.

The film was based on a plot from the Ramayana involving Lord Rama's fourteen years exile to the forest and Bharat's coronation of Rama's padukas on the throne as symbolic representation of Rama's rule.

Synopsis

Lord Rama with Sita and Lakshman leave the palace at Ayodhya as directed by their father Dasharatha. Kaikeyi, Bharat's mother and Dashrath's second wife has asked that as a boon of her husband in order to place Bharat, Rama’s step brother on the throne. Bharata refuses to sit on the throne and goes to the forest to get Rama back. Rama reminds Bharat of his duty and declines to go back as he intends fulfilling his fourteen years of banishment in the forest. Bharat then insists on taking Rama’s Padukas (slippers) and returns to Ayodhya. He places Rama's Padukas on the throne, suggesting the rightful king and waits for Rama’s eventual return.

After a brief introduction to some of the main characters of the story, the beginning sees a group of Rishis, led by Vishvamitra, performing a Yajna in a forest not far from Ayodhya, the Capital of the Kingdom of Kosala. This Yajna, like several before it, is interrupted and destroyed by a group of flying demons led by Ravana's relation Maricha. After seeing yet another Yajna destroyed, a despondent Vishvamitra appeals to Lord Vishnu for salvation. Vishnu appears in a spiritual blaze of light, informing him of his saviour- Prince Rama of Ayodhya, first-born of King Dasharatha. Vishvamitra travels to Ayodhya to meet the King and requests him to offer Rama's services to help destroy the demons in the forests. Although the Solar Dynasty King is reluctant at first to send the young lad, he is reassured by the resident Rishi that no harm will come to him and even encouraged to send his third son Lakshmana as an accompaniment.

The film opens in Dev Lok or "the world of the gods," a Hindu heaven located above the clouds, where we witness the "birth" of Santoshi Ma as the daughter of Ganesha, the elephant headed god of good beginnings, and his two wives Riddhi and Siddhi ("prosperity" and "success"). A key role is played by the immortal sage Narada, a devotee of Vishnu, and a cosmic busybody who regularly intervenes to advance the film's two parallel plots, which concern both human beings and gods. We soon meet the maiden Satyavati (Kanan Kaushal), Santoshi Ma's greatest earthly devotee, leading a group of women in an aarti (song and ceremony of worship) to the goddess. This first song, "Main To Arti Utaru", "I perform Mother Santoshi's arti," exemplifies through its camerawork the experience of darshan —of "seeing" and being seen by a deity in the reciprocal act of "visual communion" that is central to Hindu worship.

Le roi et sorcier Kans règne en tyran sur le royaume de Mathura et ambitionne de conquérir le monde. Krishna doit bientôt venir en aide aux gens du royaume et affronter les périls surnaturels que lui envoie Kans, principalement les démons Trinavarta, Bakasur et Putna. Mais, voyant Krishna vaincre sans peine chacun de ses envoyés, Kans finit par le défier en duel dans le colisée de sa capitale. Plusieurs chansons ponctuent le film.
