Rajamouli, it stars Karthi, performing dual roles, and Tamannaah alongside comedian Santhanam. The film was produced by K. E. Gnanavelraja and features music by Vidyasagar. It was released during Pongal on 14 January 2011. Despite gaining mixed critical response, the film was a success at the box office. The film was also one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2011.The film was also remade in Hindi as Rowdy Rathore directed by Prabhu Deva starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha.
Synopsis
Rocket Raja (Karthi) is a small-time thief who steals anything he comes across. With his partner Kaatu poochi (Santhanam) he enjoys life to its fullest and even falls for the beautiful Swetha (Tamannaah). However, his life changes when a small girl Divya Rathinavel (Baby Rakshana)ends up in his care; he looks exactly like her father Rathniavel Pandian IPS (Karthi). As Raja discovers the girl's past, it is revealed that Rathinavel Pandian is an honest policeman who is a nightmare to criminals, but that one gang of criminals in the village of Devi pattnam are intent on killing him and his daughter because he killed the son of a prominent criminal, who also sexually abused women. Rathinavel Pandian's colleagues put Divya in Rocket Raja's care so that the criminals cannot track her. Rathinavel Pandian is on the verge of death following a gunshot to his head. At first Raja is angry with the little girl and breaks her tape recorder. Divya is happy and hugs him, after he repairs it. Rathinavel Pandian is intent on fighting back. Unfortunately, he dies following a battle with several criminals who had been chasing Raja and Divya. From police officers,he realizes that Pandian was an honest and courageous police officer who stood against Babuji and his family who had cruelly ruled a village. Pandyan even manages to kill his son and stops their criminal acts. Pandyan manages to fail his brother but he gets shot when he tried to save a child.Upon seeing his courage, Rocket Raja (with the help of Rathinavel Pandian’s colleagues) steps into Rathinavel Pandian's shoes and finishes his unfinished work as he himself is a thug and destroys all their properties with the help of kaatu poochi in a hilarious way.He also kills his brother and also takes on the responsibility of taking care of Divya, with the help of Swetha.Actors

Vinayagam (Ajith) is a brave person living in a village called Oddanchatram, who lives with his four brothers Murugan (Bala), Shanmugam (Vidharth), Kumaran (Suhail) and Senthil (Munish). The elder brother loves the younger ones to the core, and sacrifices his happiness for their good. They are often caught in fights and they are proud of it. Advocate Bail Perumal (Santhanam), who bails them out whenever legal issues arise because of their brawls. Vinayagam hates the idea of marriage as he feels that his wife might create disharmony among brothers. Though the four younger brothers say that they don't want to either fall in love or get married, when Vinayagam is not around, they all have their secret lovers. Now, in order to get the green light for their love stories, they learn through his brother's childhood friend Collector Subbu (Ramesh Kanna) that Vinayakam, in school, was in love with a girl named Koppuram Devi (fondly called Kopu) and his brothers hatch a plan to find her and reintroduce her to Vinayakam, so he can fall for her all over again. But she's married now and has kids. So the brothers conspire to do the most logical thing, which is to find another woman named Koppuram Devi (fondly called Kopu), because, you see, Vinayakam was not in love with that girl so much as her name, and when he meets another (completely random) girl with that name, he is sure to lose his heart to her, just because she bears that name. Though initially reluctant later Vinayakam himself falls in love with her. He clashes with a goon called Vanangamudi (Pradeep Rawat) to take care of market in the village. Vanangamudi tries to kill Vinayagam's brothers while Vinayagam kidnaps Vanangamudi's son (Amit Kumar Tiwari) after clashing, Vinayagam orders Vanangamudi to leave this village.

Hasmukh Rai (Kader Khan) has a problem. As a matter of fact, two problems — his two sons: Munnu (Chunky Pandey) and Bunnu (Govinda Ahuja). The duo are notorious slackers, always up to no good, and involved in elaborate practical jokes. Vishi (Ajay Devgn) is a small-time crook who would do anything for money. He falls in love with Khushi (Sonakshi Sinha), a simple HR executive, who then begins a relationship with him. Jai single-handedly kills them all and is revealed to be a professional assassin and previous right-hand man of underworld criminal Xavier Fonseca (Anandaraj), nicknamed AJ. After AJ single-handedly rescued Xavier's sister Marina (Manasvi Mamgai) from a bunch of kidnappers, Marina falls for Jai but he rejects her as he is been married to Anusha (Yami Gautam).
