Sleeping Giant (2016)

Sleeping Giant is a 2015 Canadian drama film directed by Andrew Cividino. It was screened in the International Critics' Week section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

The film stars Jackson Martin, Reece Moffett and Nick Serino as Adam, Nate and Riley, three young boys spending the summer together in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It is an expansion of a short film, of the same title, that Cividino made in 2013. The original short film version was a Canadian Screen Award nominee for Best Live Action Short Drama at the 3rd Canadian Screen Awards.

The feature version won the award for Best Canadian First Feature Film at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival and also won the Vancouver International Film Festival award for Best Canadian Film.

Synopsis

Adam, adolescent tranquille, passe l’été avec ses parents au bord du vaste Lac Supérieur, à la frontière des États-Unis et du Canada. Sa routine se brise quand il se lie d’amitié avec Riley et Nate, deux cousins qui jouent aux petits malins en passant leur temps libre entre débauche, insouciance et sauts périlleux du haut des falaises. La révélation par l’un d’eux d’un blessant secret sur Adam, entraînera plusieurs événements irréversibles qui mettront à rude épreuve leur amitié et les changeront à jamais.
