Thirupathi (Vadivelu), Ezhumalai (S. Ve. Shekher) and Venkatesa (Prabhu) are poor friends who tried to become rich. Nachiappan (Venniradai Moorthy), a bungalow watchman, has three daughters : Lalitha (Kovai Sarala), Padmini (Urvashi) and Ragini (Roja). When his owner left the bungalow on vacation, Nachiappan's daughters decide to live there. Then, Nachiappan rents his owner's top portion bungalow to Thirupathi, Ezhumalai and Venkatesa who lied about their job. The three men finally get married with the three women. The rest of the story is how the three men will manage their wives.

Shakthi(Jayam Ravi) and Chinnasamy(Soori) are family enemies who fight over an election. During that time, Shakthi falls in love with Anjali, whom he later discovers is his enemies cousin. When their love rapidly heats up, Shakthi is forced to marry Divya(Trisha), a city girl. Before starting a life together, Divya tells Shakthi, they must get to know each other, but every time Shakthi tries to do something good, it ends bad. This leads them on a plan for divorce. In exchange, Shakthi tells Divya to agree and stay for a month with his parents so they won't get hurt over the fact that they made Shakthi marry someone who doesn't even like him. To make this worse, Shakthi's father gets Divya to stand for the female election to which she quietly agrees. When she loses in the family generation winning election, Shakthi's father angrily hits him. . That's when Shakthi reveals how he lost in love and life. Seeing how much he loves and respects his family and how his life has been, Divya slowly starts to like her husband. At the end Divya and Shakthi happily live together while they argue over little things; making their life filled with love.

Parvathiamma(Latha) is the domineering mother of three sons Kandha(Prabhu), Kadamba(S.V.Sekhar) and Kathirvela(Vivek), who do her every bidding. They move around in an auto and work at their own hotel. Parvatiamma has disavowed her only daughter ever since she ran away with a barber Vedivelan(Vadivelu). Now the daughter's wish is to have her brothers present at the function of her son. Vadivelan takes this task upon himself and enters the household. Chellaiya has two missions in life. One, is to remove the taint on the family name and expose the man behind his family's misfortunes. The film's plot revolves around Kanthaswamy (Vikram), who is an Income Tax officer in the CBI, and his friends, granting the wishes of the needy who write letters to a local Lord Muruga temple by disguising himself as an anthropomorphic rooster. During a CBI income tax raid, he discovers a stash of black money owned by Ponnusamy (Ashish Vidyarthi), a rich and corrupted entrepreneur. Ponnusamy pretends to be paralysed to escape the questioning. Angered by the news that her father is paralysed, Ponnusamy's daughter, Subbulakshmi (Shriya Saran) goes after Kanthaswamy to seek revenge by pretending to be in love with him. Kanthaswamy, knowing Subbulakshmi's real intentions plays along in the game. This forms a cat and mouse chase between the two. In a comical role, Thengakadai Thenappan (Vadivelu) is also sought after by a local police inspector who tries to solve the mystery of "Lord Muruga saving the people". The fate of Kanthaswamy's disguise leads into the climax of the story. The local police inspector was able to bring out the truth that a CBI is involved in the role behind the secret work of helping the needy people although he was not able to confirm it. Kanthaswamy finds the password of Subbulakshmi's family bank account, in which the black money is illegally saved. He tricks Subbulakshmi into revealing the password and answers for the security questions indirectly. Kanthaswamy finally transfers the money to his account which would be used for helping the poor and needy people. Ironically, in the end, Subbulakshmi's father was paralysed at the end knowing that the password which was used by him to access his black money was changed. After that Subbulakshmi and Kanthaswamy were married and were living in northern India. Kanthaswamy saw some letters tied to a tree, just like the ones at the Lord Muruga temple. He reads one and puts it into his pocket with a secret smile, which meant he will pursue being the anthropomorphic rooster again.
