Jayaram Subramaniam (born 10 December 1965), better known as Jayaram, is an Indian film actor who predominantly acts in Malayalam films, and at times in Tamil films. He is also a chenda percussionist and mimic artist.
Jayaram made his debut in Padmarajan's Aparan (1988). He was cast again in Padmarajan's Moonnam Pakkam (1988) and Innale (1989). He was able to create a mark for himself in the industry with films such as Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal (1989), Thoovalsparsham (1990), Nagarangalil Chennu Raparkam (1990), and Georgootty C/O Georgootty (1991). By the 1990s, he was most famous for his collaborations with Rajasenan, which turned out to be commercial hits, with films such as Ayalathe Adheham (1992), Meleparambil Aanveedu (1993), CID Unnikrishnan B.A., B.Ed. (1994), Aadyathe Kanmani (1995), and The Car (1997). Jayaram's films were such a success with the family audiences that he was labelled as the actor with the least risk, in terms of box office results.
Jayaram's association with director Sathyan Anthikad was also notable. He won his first Kerala State Film Award, a Special Jury Award, for his performance in Sathyan Anthikad's Thooval Kottaram (1996). He went on to win another Kerala State Film Award, and has won four Filmfare Awards South. In 2001, he won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award, Special Prize award, for his performance in Thenali (2000). Post-2000, his performances in the films One Man Show (2001), Manassinakkare (2003), Veruthe Oru Bharya (2008), Bhagyadevatha (2009), and Seniors (2011) are memorable.
In 2011, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution towards the arts.
He is married to actress Parvathy, on 7 September 1992, who is no longer active in films. Their son Kalidas Jayaram is a child film artist who won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist in 2003 for his second movie, Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum. Jayaram also has a daughter, Malavika. Currently he resides at Valasaravakkam, Tamil Nadu with family.

Biography
Jayaram was born as youngest among three children to Subramaniyam Iyyer and Thankam at Perumbavoor, Kerala on 10 December 1965. His mother tongue is Tamil. His father is from Kerala settled Tamil Iyyer family and mother is from Thanjavur. He has an elder brother, late Venkit Ram and a elder sister, Manjula. He had his primary education from Government Boys High School, Perumbavoor. He pursued bachelors in Economics from Sree Sankara College, Kalady. He became a medical representative soon after college. Later he joined Kalabhavan and performed mimicry in many stages which paved him a way to film industry. Renowned Malayalam writer Malayattoor Ramakrishnan was Jayaram's maternal uncle.He is married to actress Parvathy, on 7 September 1992, who is no longer active in films. Their son Kalidas Jayaram is a child film artist who won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist in 2003 for his second movie, Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum. Jayaram also has a daughter, Malavika. Currently he resides at Valasaravakkam, Tamil Nadu with family.

The film starts with the murder of ex-commissioner by an escaped prisoner Kamal Ekambaram (Riyaz Khan). The story then shifts to Masilamani aka Massu (Suriya) and his friend Jet Li (Premgi Amaren) who are small-time con artists. Massu falls for Manini (Nayantara) and they subsequently fall in love. While trying to escape after a heist gone wrong, Massu and Jet meet with a car accident, post which Massu starts seeing dead people, with whom he can communicate. Jet had died in the accident and is now a ghost, too. Massu forms a group of loitering ghosts to earn money by performing fake exorcisms and extorting money from scared rich people, while promising the ghosts that he would fulfill their last wishes in return. Meanwhile, Manini who thought Massu was working in a finance company gets to know about the fake exorcisms and leaves him in a heist.
