Synopsis
Rich suburban girl Chaitali Choudhury marries nephew oriented man Ajoy (Prosenjit) against the wishes of her elder brother and aunt. But within a couple of months Chaitali (Rachana) and Ajoy go loggerheads over the issue of Ajoy's beloved nephew Arun (Rishi). Ajoy slaps Chaitali in front of her brother Joydeb's (Sudip) friend Shekhar. Chaitali leaves home even after repeated requests from Ajoy's mother and his widow sister Dipa to stay back. Ajoy transforms to a business tycon from a poor man after this incident. On the other hand Chatali is influenced against Ajoy by Joydeb, pisi (her anut) and Shekhar. 15 years go by. Though the estranged couple still love each other, they can never unite again due to social constraints. Meanwhile Arun grows up to become a spoilt brat. The uncle-nephew combo remains steady amidts all these mishaps Arun falls in love with Tithi who is accidentally bad man Joydeb's only daughter. There is another possitive character in Ranjan (Bhashwar) who tries to bring peace within the rival families. But Shekhar has another plans. He influenced Joydeb to sent a pack of killers to execute Ajoy. Ajoy fights bravely but injured. When Arun hears this news he rushes to kill Joydev and Shekhar in a fit of rage. But accidentally he chops off poor Ranjan's left hand with a chopper. Things complicate after this incident but when Ranjan withdraws the case over Arun, he takes oath to become a good man and unite his uncle and aunt. Tithi helps Arun wholeheartedly in this mission. Ultimately after numerous violent incidents Joydeb decides to marry off Chaitali by force. At the last moment Ajoy arrives at that spot. Arun too arrives to save his uncle and aunt. Shekhar tries to molest Chaitali while she kills the debauch in self-defence. Arun takes blame and voluntary goes to jail for 4 years. After getting released Ajoy and Arun come to Joydeb's house to take Tithi with them. There every single truth gets revealed. Joydeb and pisi (Arpita Baker) transform into good human beings and the misunderstanding ends finally. Ajoy and Chaitali re-unite after a long gap.Actors

Pralay (Prosenjit Chatterjee), an orphan, is given shelter by Kaka Babu (Rajatava Dutt), just like the latter had given to the brother- sister orphans, Mainak (Tota Ray Chowdhury) and Khushi (Barsa Priyadarshini). The three grew up like family members. When they grow up, Pranay falls in love with Chandni(Priyanka Trivedi), the daughter of Tridib Babu (Mrinal Mukherjee), the local don. Pralay and Mainak often clash with Tridib’s men and always teach them a lesson. The entry of Sangeeta (Namrata Thapa) creates a misunderstanding between the two, as Mainak has a crush for her, but he comes to know that Sangeeta loves Pralay. Siddhartha is a college-mate of Khushi. He was not getting any scope of conveying his love for her. Ultimately he joins as manager in the Mainak-Pralay company. But due to some misunderstanding Sangeeta has an impression that Pralay would marry her and Mainak was under impression that Pralay had chosen Chandni as his match. The comedy of errors continues till the entire confusion is cleared.

The movie begins with a marriage scene in which the bridegroom disagrees to marry due to non-payment of dowry by the bride`s father. In spite of his brother's request, he remains stubborn. He even throws away the garland. Raja(Prosenjit Chatterjee) comes to the scene and tries to convince the bridegroom to marry. A challenge for test of brotherhood befalls Raja calls his two brothers Rana (Lokesh) and Rakesh(Abhishek Chatterjee) and orders them to drink poison. They gladly do so. It is revealed that the water in the glass contained honey instead of poison. The groom apologises and agrees to marry. All three brothers are worried about their only sister-Pooja's (Moumita) marriage and life. But Pooja convinces them to marry. All of them visit Anjali`s house and the marriage is settled. Nahim Ghoshal (Dulal Lahiri) buys a crown for goddess Lali made of pure gold which he wishes to offer for the god. He is stopped by Rakesh and a crash takes place. Mahim Ghoshal is insulted and agrees to take revenge. Raja later drives to Mahim's house for apology on behalf of his brother. Ghosal cleverly places a proposal of marriage between his son and Pooja. Raja ignorantly agrees; as a dowry Mahim Ghosal makes Raja transfer all his property in the name of Pooja, there by making them beggars. The film advances with the display of repeated insults and plans by Mahim Ghosal towards Raja's family as revenge. He even plots to create mental tension among the family members of Raja's family. But strong bondage and dedication among the three brothers prevents the fury. On the other hand, Mahim Ghosal and his son torture Pooja brutally, but keeping Pooja`s future in mind, Raja forgives them repeatedly. Pooja is expecting a baby but her husband even tries to destroy it. There is a clash and Raja, Rana and Rakesh carry Pooja to the hospital. Pooja has a boy. Mahim Ghosal and his son apologises at the hospital. They are forgiven and they live together ever after. The title Kartavya is suitable as it reflects the duty of a brother towards his sister.

Prosenjit Chatterjee as a Sobuj loves a next door girl Rachana Banerjee as a Saathi. But eventually Sathi turns out to be his friend Rahul's lover. Sobuj does everything to protect his friend's(Abhisheek) love. He loses his mother and his family. Facing bitter circumstances Rahul learns the lessons of life. He learns to work on his own and take responsibilities. After 2 years Rahul comes back but only to settle his sister's life. Again Sobuj comes to the rescue. He agrees to marry a neural patient to salvage his friend Rahul's love. But destiny played otherwise. Rahul had to marry a girl to salvage her sister's marriage. Sobuj did everything for Sathi but did not tell that he loved her. In the end Sobuj's mother did not tell . And what else, alls well that ends well.

The film is about an honest police officer, Agni (Prosenjit Chatterjee) whom terrorists are trying to murder but end up killing a number of school children in a school bus. The police officers are very worried about the rising crime rate and they vow to curb their attempts. Agni is given the charge. Agni while trying to save people from a terrorist attack in a shopping complex rescues Tina (Neelanjana) who falls in love with him. She later discovers that he is married to Chandrani (Rachana Banerjee) and even has a son Apu (Master Anshu). However this does not deter her love for him. She keeps on finding ways to go to Agni's house. She also becomes friendly with Apu. One day she takes Apu with her from school without Chandrani's permission. Apu studies in a school owned by Dr. Sayol (Tapas Pal) who does not have a child. Meanwhile Agni succeeds in catching members Pamela and Peter of the terrorist gang. During this time Agni's son is locked up by the principal of his school, who is thought to be kidnapped. Agni tries his best to find his son but fails. The principal then releases Apu who is then taken care of by Anu. Meanwhile the political agents come and kidnap Apu murdering Anu. Agni then agrees to release Pamela and Peter in return for his son. He is asked to go to the airport and place a briefcase laden with bombs. He fights with the gangsters and finally rescues his son. At last the politician is also put behind bars.

Remake of Tamil movie Ninaikkaadha Naalillai. Debdutta and Arun are inseparable childhood peers who maintain an excellent bonhomie as adults. While Arun becomes a cop, Deb joins a refrigerator company as a senior executive. Meanwhile Deb falls in love with Kabita. While Deb and Kabita plan to marry, Kabita recommends her closest friend’s name (Kajol) as a partner for Arun. Debdutta goes to Arun and lays out the plan and the duo hope to marry together, in the same day. But things go awry when Arun hurts himself while defusing a car bomb. He burns so badly that doctors abandon all hope. Succumbing to injuries, a dying Arun requests Deb to bring Kajol for a final instance. Deb goes to fetch Kajol, but her uncle Binod bashes up Deb because he has diverse plans of marrying Kajol to a Dubaian tycoon. Deb gets back to the hospital unscathed, shivering in despair. Meanwhile Kabita arrives at the venue. Deb requests and prays Kabita to act as Kajol only for a solitary instance, as the last wish of a dying man (Arun had never seen Kajol). But after experiencing Kabita as Kajol, Arun miraculously returns to life from the jaws of death. Kabita gets tragically stamped as Kajol and Deb sacrifices his love for the sake of his peer. Deb searches out Kajol, but she gets stabbed to death by Binod. Abandoning all hope Deb advises Kabita to marry Arun and remain Kajol for her forthcoming life. A dumbstruck Kabita prepares to sacrifice everything. But on the day of marriage Arun reveals that he knows every move of the sacrificing couple and ultimately the estranged and tested lovers re-unite.
