Thamizhachi is a 1995 Tamil drama film directed by S. Asokan. The film features Napoleon and Ranjitha in lead roles, with Revathi, Goundamani, Senthil, Vijayakumar, Mohan Natarajan and Srividya playing supporting roles. The film, produced by K. P. Shanmugam Sundaram, had musical score by Deva and was released on 29 June 1995. The film became a failure at the box office.
Synopsis
A reporter (Revathi) comes to a village in search of interesting village true stories. She comes to know that a woman called Thamizhselvi (Ranjitha) has not left her house for seven years. Thamizhselvi tells to the reporter her sad past.Actors

Vaanavaraayan (Rajinikanth) plays the role of a feudal chieftain, adored and respected by his village people. He lives with his grandparents (M. N. Nambiar & Manorama). Following his advice, they abstain from voting in the elections and instead, pool the money given by the candidates to get themselves some basic amenities. Vallavaraayan (Napoleon) is his arch enemy. Their enmity is further sharpened when Vaanavaraayan wins the hand of Vaitheeswari (Meena), whom Vallavaraayan had also wished to wed. So Vallavaraayan convinces the priest at the temple to mix a poison in the holy water that Vaitheeswari drinks. As a result she becomes incapable of conceiving. But surprisingly, Vaitheeswari soon becomes pregnant-though she has pretended with the help of the mid-wife (S. N. Lakshmi), to do so to uphold her husband's honor. She takes poison and kills herself unable to bear the grief of being incapable of giving her husband a child and on her deathbed makes Vaanavarayan swear to take Ponni (Aishwariya) as his wife. Vaanavarayan however refuses until Ponni agrees to marry Sembattai (Thalapathi Dinesh)- Vallavarayan's hechman-who abandons her to Vallavarayan's vice. Infuriated Vaanavarayam attacks Vallavarayam and spares his life after giving him a sermon on how to win the heart of people.

Arun (Mohan), a prominent singer is in jail with a death sentence looming over his head. He meets Shanthi (Revathi) during one of his concerts, and is followed by her on many occasions into the jail and outside too. He shows nothing but animosity towards her behavior, and keeps pushing her out of sight. But Shanthi is persistent and does not give up either. An inmate named Maari attempts to escape from jail, but he is stopped by Arun. Maari later tells Arun about his sick daughter (Shekhina Shawn), and his inability to pay for her operation. Arun sympathises with him, and promises to raise funds for the sick child through his next concert, which he also plans shall be his final one.
