The Boat Race (French: La Régate) is a 2009 drama film directed by Bernard Bellefroid. The film follows Alexandre, a 15-year-old guy, who lives alone with his dad, enduring relentless physical violence. To escape from his daily life, Alex rows on the Meuse river, and has only one obsession: to win the Belgian Singles Championships.

The film received four nominations at the 1st Magritte Awards and won Most Promising Actor for Joffrey Verbruggen.

Synopsis

Alexandre a quinze ans et vit seul avec son père, dans les coups et la violence, en révolte contre tous. Pour échapper à ce quotidien sans répit, Alex se réfugie dans son sport favori, l'aviron, et n'a qu'une obsession, gagner seul et à tout prix les championnats de Belgique. Son entraîneur, Sergi, et Murielle, la jeune fille dont il est amoureux, vont permettre à Alex de redécouvrir les valeurs humaines qu'il avait perdues...

When Wan-deuk takes up kickboxing to funnel his aggression, Yun-ha helps him. But just when Wan-deuk has come to rely on Dong-ju's tutorship, the latter is arrested by the police for helping illegal immigrant workers.
