Focusing on Silvio Berlusconi's vicissitudes, it was released just before the beginning of the 2006 elections, in which Berlusconi lost. It was one of the most successful films of 2006 in Italy. It was entered into the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.
Synopsis
Opening with a wedding between two young Communists, officiated by a CP functionary, under the poster of Mao-Tse Tung, the bride suddenly spears the man and escapes, chased by the police. This is the end of 'Cataratte'/'Cataracts', a 10-year-old action B-movie projected in an open air cinema in honor of Bruno Bonomo (Silvio Orlando), a cockeyed film producer, who did some trash movies starring his wife Paola (Margherita Buy) in the 1970s. He also has two young sons loved by him and his wife. During this homage, a young woman presents him the script of a movie she wants to direct with his help.Actors

Moretti is a director in crisis and would like to make a musical film that speaks to the history of a pastry in the Cold War. However, each time he starts to develop the project, Moretti leaves the Institute to devote himself to meditation. In fact there is something in the Italy of his day that afflicts him: the demonic presence in Italy of Silvio Berlusconi and his corrupt colleagues (including Emilio Fede in the TV news) in the government. Moretti, a Communist Party, would like a jolt did topple the government of Berlusconi, but to no avail. After a few days he really wants to make a movie about all the misdeeds of the Prime Minister, but his plans are thwarted by the birth of his child, to whom he devotes himself with an obsessive love. Not knowing what to do, as he seriously risking to fail as a film director, Moretti takes up the idea of the film on the pastry singer.

The film tells a very raw and realistic story of the death of a teenager in a middle-class Italian family. Giovanni has a troubled relationship with his seventeen-year-old son Andrea and would like to make up with him by jogging. Andrea, annoyed by the presence of his father, accepts the invitation, but on the very first day of jogging, Giovanni has a firm commitment. The second day Giovanni has to cancel the jogging with Andrea due to an urgent call from one of his patients. Andrea goes with friends to go scuba diving instead. Unable to make it back to the surface in time after following a fish into a cave, Andrea dies, without being able to be reconciled with his father. Giovanni, with his wife Paola, is no longer able to console himself for the loss of his very young son and he can only give him a final farewell in the funeral home along with all the other young friends of Andrea.
