Synopsis
En hiver 1922, le commissaire politique Glazkov accompagné d'un jeune subalterne Alekseï Bytchkov part pour la Tchoukotka. Sa mission consiste à assurer le contrôle de cette partie du territoire de la jeune république soviétique. Sur le chemin, Glazkov meurt de la fièvre typhoïde. Arrivé à destination, Aleksei est accueilli par l'ancien employé des douanes tsaristes, un certain Timofeï Khramov à qui il apprend l'arrivée au pouvoir des bolcheviks. Dans la foulée, il se présente comme le nouveau "chef de la Tchoukotka", en accord avec le mandat qu'il produit lui-même sur le champ.Actors

Le protagoniste est Vassili Ivanovitch Tchapaïev, un commandant bolchévique de la Guerre civile russe. Le scénario est basé sur le livre éponyme de Dmitri Fourmanov. Fourmanov en réalité était commissaire politique de la division commandée par Tchapaïev. Son livre est néanmoins romancé et non pas simplement documentaire. Dans le film, Fourmanov apparaît en personne comme un des personnages principaux. L'image épique de Tchapaïev créée par Boris Babotchkine est celle d'un homme sans instruction, avec peu de conscience politique affirmée, mais qui comprit instinctivement les buts des Bolchéviks et l'art de la guerre révolutionnaire. (Le Tchapaïev historique était un homme plus complexe). Dans une scène célèbre, le commandant explique à un de ses subordonnés une attaque contre les Blancs en utilisant des pommes de terre qui symbolisaient tel ou tel groupe militaire. Parmi les personnages principaux, on trouve Petka, jeune aide-de-camp de Tchapaïev, et une jeune fille, Anka, qui est responsable de la mitrailleuse. Dans la scène finale, Tchapaïev se noie dans le fleuve Oural.

In spring 1939, Sara Delano, the mother of Franklin D. Mostly taking elements from the Third Crusade, King Richard the Lionheart is enlisted in a crusade to bring Jerusalem back into Christian hands in order to get out of a betrothal with Princess Alice of France. En route, Richard meets Berengaria, Princess of Navarre and marries her in exchange for food for his men. During the Crusaders' attempts to get past the walls of Acre, Berengaria is captured by the Muslim Sultan Saladin and he brings her back to Jerusalem and attempts to woo her. Eventually, the Crusaders make their way to Jerusalem and after many battles Saladin declares a truce and Richard agrees. Berengaria and Richard fall in love and all the gates of Jerusalem are opened.

In late 1969, Billy Covington (Robert Downey Jr.) works as a helicopter traffic pilot for a Los Angeles radio station, but after breaking several safety regulations on the job, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration suspends his pilot's license. The story of Saladin (Ahmed Mazhar) portrays the title character, ruler of the kingdoms surrounding Jerusalem, during the events of the Third Crusade. The film starts with Jerusalem, which is under the authority of the Christians of Europe, having its Muslim pilgrims slaughtered by the Christians in the holy lands. Saladin upon hearing this news seeks the reclamation of the holy lands in a short, almost impossible campaign. He succeeds in taking back Jerusalem, which leads the powers of Europe to organize the Third Crusade with the combined forces of the French king (Omar El-Hariri) and German emperor under the leadership of Richard the Lionheart of England. Saladin succeeds in preventing the recapture of Jerusalem, and in the end negotiations between himself and Richard (whom Saladin admires as the only honorable infidel leader) leave the Holy Land in Muslim hands.
