Synopsis
Colonel Antonio Cavalli (Toto), promoted to general, after many years spent fighting in the army and commanding Italian Army troops in the Great War and the Second World War, is sent into retirement. But he, accustomed to the command of everything and everyone, cannot get used to quiet family life. He decides to work in an office. When Antonio discovers that his wife (Andreina Pagnani) is secretly paying his salary, this depresses him even more. Eventually two crooks involve him in a real estate ripoff, using his reputation they get him to him sign off on several frauds and scams, which threaten to send him to jail and compromises his high honor as an Italian Army General. On the brink of prison, the general attempts suicide, but once again his wife gets him out of the mess .Actors

A pair of brothers, Baby Toto and Pietro, sons of different mothers, live stealing suitcases at the Termini Station in Rome. In Rome, during the Fifties, three boys attempt to commit a robbery. They're Mario, Alvaro and Otello, which make use of the aid of a trickster, Professor Semprini, who claims to be a great intellectual. But the man is the garbage boy of the lawyer Mazzoni Baralla, upright man, who goes on the trail of the three boys as soon as they attempt the shot. Indeed Alvaro, Mario and Otello are arrested, after being deceived by Semprini, who pretends from them a payment for the design of the plan. In fact the three first attempt to pass off counterfeit notes, then pretend guards vice squad's team in Villa Borghese. After the arrest and exoneration, the three decide to return to their old and simple jobs.

The film tells the story of a group of kids who lives in a township of the poorest and most disreputable streets of Rome. The story is set in the typical climate of the Second World War's end. Thomas is a guy almost adult who lives at the expense of others, like all his other companions, stealing and wasting time. In fact there is nothing in his area, there is no education, no job, no social centers... Thomas in fact goes along with cronies stealing garbage and pieces of old iron to resell them to messy and equally poor body of the township. An atomic rocket is launched on a manned moon mission, but one of the engines malfunctions. The rocket's steering is broken. The pilot disengages the capsule and returns to Earth. The atomic booster, however, continues on, eventually crashing into and exploding in an asteroid belt. The explosion dislodges many asteroids from their orbits. They coalesce into one giant cluster and are heading for earth. As the cluster approaches earth it causes global scale disasters: tidal waves, wind, fire storms and earthquakes. One scientist loses his sanity in the crisis and disables the great computer needed to calculate all the firing data. He is stopped and the data provided. When there seems to be no reasonable hope that humans could eventually avoid the crash, scientists find that the moon will pass in front of the cluster so that the Earth will be shielded from most of it. However, a small part of the cluster is not shielded and goes towards the Earth. At this point, mankind's only hope is to arm every missile on earth with a nuclear warhead and fire them all at the cluster. The nations of the world band together and fire the volley. The cluster is destroyed.

In Italy, during 1943, two men collide during the bombing of the Nazis and American allies. Antonio is a thief who disguises himself as a priest for the robberies at the stations; Vittorio Cotono is a marshal upright who's chasing Antonio, and that in the end, to a misunderstanding, he is forced to do so by Marshal dress. Antonio is excited about the new appointment, and Vittorio meanwhile disguises himself as a priest.
