The film was shown as part of a retrospective "Questi fantasmi: Cinema italiano ritrovato" at the 65th Venice International Film Festival.
Synopsis
The film tells the story of a group of kids who lives in a township of the poorest and most disreputable streets of Rome. The story is set in the typical climate of the Second World War's end. Thomas is a guy almost adult who lives at the expense of others, like all his other companions, stealing and wasting time. In fact there is nothing in his area, there is no education, no job, no social centers... Thomas in fact goes along with cronies stealing garbage and pieces of old iron to resell them to messy and equally poor body of the township. Thus, gleaned a few hundred pounds, Thomas and friends can have fun going to prostitutes or watching movies at the cinema.Actors

Alors qu'elle visite l'Italie, une jeune et belle touriste française, Martine, est arrêtée par erreur par la police qui a découvert de la drogue sur elle, malencontreusement placée par une délinquante droguée. Incarcérée dans une prison pour femmes, Martine découvre aussitôt l'enfer carcéral. Comme les autres prisonnières, elle est humiliée et torturée psychologiquement ou physiquement par les gardes et les nonnes. L'injustice et le sadisme qui y règnent amènent les détenues à se rebeller. Maitrisées, elles sont envoyées dans une prison située en pleine mer d'où toute tentative d'évasion semble impossible. La menace et la rébellion grondent.

An atomic rocket is launched on a manned moon mission, but one of the engines malfunctions. The rocket's steering is broken. The pilot disengages the capsule and returns to Earth. The atomic booster, however, continues on, eventually crashing into and exploding in an asteroid belt. The explosion dislodges many asteroids from their orbits. They coalesce into one giant cluster and are heading for earth. As the cluster approaches earth it causes global scale disasters: tidal waves, wind, fire storms and earthquakes. One scientist loses his sanity in the crisis and disables the great computer needed to calculate all the firing data. He is stopped and the data provided. When there seems to be no reasonable hope that humans could eventually avoid the crash, scientists find that the moon will pass in front of the cluster so that the Earth will be shielded from most of it. However, a small part of the cluster is not shielded and goes towards the Earth. At this point, mankind's only hope is to arm every missile on earth with a nuclear warhead and fire them all at the cluster. The nations of the world band together and fire the volley. The cluster is destroyed.

Colonel Antonio Cavalli (Toto), promoted to general, after many years spent fighting in the army and commanding Italian Army troops in the Great War and the Second World War, is sent into retirement. But he, accustomed to the command of everything and everyone, cannot get used to quiet family life. He decides to work in an office.
