The film is based on the Armenian Genocide. A young man by the name of Nazareth Manoogian gets deported from his native village of Mardin. After the deportations, Manoogian learns that his daughters may be alive. He travels to various parts of the world in search for them.
Synopsis
Pendant le génocide arménien, Nazareth Manoogian est déporté de son village natal de Mardin, en Turquie. Après les déportations, il apprend que ses filles pourraient être encore vivantes et parcourt le monde pour les retrouver. Allant d'Alep au Liban dans un orphelinat, puis traversant l'atlantique comme mousse pour Cuba et finalement aux États-Unis dans le Minnesota puis à Ruso, Dakota du Nord.Actors

In Paris during the German occupation, an ill-assorted group of resistance fighters commits disorganized attacks. However, circumstances lead him to abandon his reluctance. Under his leadership, the group structures and plans its actions and thus the Manouchian network is born. The story, drawn from La masseria delle allodole, the best-selling novel by Antonia Arslan, tells about the Avakian clan, an Armenian family living in Turkey and having two houses. The Avakians feel convinced that the rising tide of Turkish hostility on the horizon means little to them and will scarcely affect their day to day. The Avakians do not pay attention to the warning signs, and set about preparing for a family reunion with the impending visit of two well-to-do sons - landowner Aram, who resides in Turkey, and Assadour, a physician living in Venice. These illusions come crashing down when a Turkish military regiment crops up at the house, annihilates every male member of the family and forces the ladies to trek off into the Syrian desert, where they will be left to rot. At the airport Marjane Satrapi (Chiara Mastroianni) is unable to board a plane to Iran. She then takes a seat and smokes. She looks back at her childhood.
