Long before his development of the "heroic bloodshed" gangster films genre, John Woo was a young director struggling to make it in the Hong Kong film industry. The Dragon Tamers was his second film as a director (his debut film was The Young Dragons (1974)).
This action picture from Golden Harvest was filmed in Korea. Stunt choreographer, Chuan Chen had been a recognized talent at Golden Harvest, having worked on many of their films. His assistant on this particular production was a very young and hungry, Jackie Chan.
Synopsis
Le jeune Fang décide de partir en Corée du Sud pour y apprendre de nouvelles techniques d'arts martiaux. A Séoul, il rencontre Sheng et Nan Kung, deux experts en Taekwondo. Nan Kung est la coqueluche de ses dames. A l'université, il fait sensation à chaque nouveau championnat. Mais son cœur bât pour Ming-hei, la fille de Sheng. Entre Fang et Nan Kung, une rivalité s'installe. A Hong Kong assassin, Ah Jong, is on his last job for the Triad (a criminal organization), but accidentally damages the eyes of a young nightclub singer named Jennie with a muzzle flash in a shootout. After the attack, Ah Jong begins to watch Jennie perform at the nightclub and escorts her home when she is attacked by thugs. Jennie and Ah Jong begin to fall in love during his frequent visits at her apartment. Driven to help her secure the money for a sight-saving corneal transplant, he accepts one final hit. A police detective, Li Ying, spots Ah Jong completing the job but the assassin escapes. The Triad leader Hay Wong Hoi double crosses Ah Jong, and instead of paying him, sends a group of hitmen to kill him. During Ah Jong's escape from the Triad, a young child is injured by a stray bullet. After dispatching the attackers, Ah Jong rushes the child to the hospital while being followed by Li and his partner Sgt. Tsang. Once the child regains consciousness at the casualty ward, Ah Jong escapes Li and Tsang.

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), while vacationing, is alerted by the IMF that someone has used his identity to assist Russian bio-chemical expert Dr. Vladimir Nekhorvich (Rade Serbedzija) of Biocyte Pharmaceuticals to enter the United States, only to kill him in a subsequent plane crash. During World War II, USMC Cpl. Joseph F. 'Joe' Enders rallies himself to return to active duty with the aid of his pharmacist, Rita. He previously survived a gruesome battle on the Solomon Islands against the Imperial Japanese Army that killed his entire squad and left him with a scar on his neck and almost deaf in his left ear. Enders' new assignment is to protect Navajo code talker Pvt. Ben Yahzee, and carries a promotion for Enders to Sergeant. Sgt. Pete 'Ox' Anderson also receives a parallel assignment protecting Navajo code talker Pvt. Charlie Whitehorse. The Navajo code, as it was known, was a code based on two parts: 1) the Navajo language and 2) a code embedded in the language, meaning that even native speakers would be confused by it, referring to a tank as a turtle, for example. The code was close to unbreakable but also so difficult only a few people could learn it.
