In medieval Europe, Philippe Gaston (Broderick), a thief facing execution who is known as "The Mouse", escapes from the dungeons of Aquila via the sewers. The Bishop of Aquila (Wood) sends his Captain of the Guard, Marquet (Hutchison), to hunt Philippe down. At a country tavern, Philippe unknowingly reveals himself to Marquet and his men, and is about to be killed. But the former captain, Etienne of Navarre (Hauer), intervenes and defeats Marquet and his men. He then takes Philippe away.

Manor Farm is a formerly prosperous farm that has fallen on hard times, and suffers under the now-ineffective leadership of its drunken and aggressive owner, Mr. Jones. One night, Old Major, the prize boar and the second-oldest on the farm, calls the animals on the farm for a meeting, where he compares the humans to parasites and encourages the animals to break free from their tyrant's influence, while reminding them that they must hold true to their convictions after they have gained freedom. With that, he teaches the animals a revolutionary song, before collapsing dead mid-song to the animals' horror.

In 1607, the Susan Constant sails to the New World from England, carrying British settlers of the Virginia Company. On board are Captain John Smith and the voyage's leader Governor Ratcliffe, who seeks large amounts of gold in the New World to assure a strong position at the British court. Along the way, the Susan Constant is caught in a North Atlantic storm, and Smith saves a young, inexperienced crewmate named Thomas from drowning. In the Powhatan tribe in the New World, Pocahontas, daughter of Chief Powhatan, dreads being possibly wed to Kocoum, a brave warrior whom she sees as too "serious" for her free-spirited personality. Chief Powhatan gives Pocahontas her deceased mother's necklace as a present. Pocahontas, along with her friends, the gluttonous raccoon Meeko and hot-tempered hummingbird Flit, visit Grandmother Willow, a spiritual talking willow tree, and speaks of a possibly prophetic dream involving a spinning arrow, and her confusion regarding what her "path" in life should be. Grandmother Willow then alerts Pocahontas to the arriving British.

Following the death of his wife, Arthur Pratt (Philip Baker Hall) is on the verge of taking his own life. However, just after he had finished burying his wife’s ashes at the park, a duckling crosses his path. Noticing that the duckling is all alone, Arthur decides to help it find its flock. Unfortunately, they end up finding the flock as roadkill. As a result, Arthur then chooses to take the surviving duckling back to his apartment, where he bathes and feeds it. No longer on the verge, Arthur is committed to raise and take care of the duckling, which he names “Joe.”

As the film begins, Jonathan Livingston Seagull is soaring through the sky hoping to travel at a speed more than 60 miles per hour. Eventually, with luck he is able to break that barrier, but when Jonathan returns to his own flock he is greeted with anything but applause. The Elders of the flock shame Jonathan for doing things the other seagulls never dare to do. Jonathan pleads to stay and claims that he wants to share his newfound discovery with everybody, but the Elders dismiss him as an outcast, and he is banished from the flock. Jonathan goes off on his own, believing that all hope is lost. However, he is soon greeted by mysterious seagulls from other lands who assure him that his talent is a unique one, and with them Jonathan is trained to become independent and proud of his beliefs. Eventually, Jonathan himself ends up becoming a mentor for other seagulls who are suffering the same fates in their own flocks as he once did.

In 1993, professional basketball player Michael Jordan announces his retirement from the sport to follow his late father’s career as a baseball player. However, it becomes evident that he is not as skilled in baseball as he was in basketball. Jordan is assigned a publicist, the bumbling Stan Podolak, to make his new career less bumpy. Sur la côte marseillaise, une petite tribu a ses habitudes au cabaret de Joséfa, le « Perroquet Bleu » qui périclite faute de clients. Les copains marginaux ou en perdition sociale se rassemblent au bar : il y a Jaco, chômeur et malheureux en ménage, Patrick, un autre chômeur marié avec Marie-Sol, femme de ménage qui ne tarde pas à rejoindre leur clan après avoir refusé les avances de son patron et enfin Otto, un ancien légionnaire. Le bon ami de Joséfa, José, qui fait office de barman, recueille un jour Vénus, une jeune droguée. Tout ce petit monde se retrouve bientôt hébergé au Perroquet Bleu dans un bel élan solidaire. Les difficultés ne continuent pas moins de s’accroître : la femme et les enfants de Jaco le quittent, la situation financière s'aggrave pour tous, le cabaret menace faillite et enfin, le drame : Patrick se suicide pour que sa famille puisse toucher l'assurance-vie.

L'histoire du film se passe à l'automne 1946 dans une petite ville provinciale de l'ouest du Kazakhstan soviétique. Ivan Naïdenov, un jeune garçon préadolescent, surnommé Sedoï (c'est-à-dire: le Grisonnant, à cause d'une mèche de cheveux blanche) est un colombophile passionné, au point qu'un jour il capture au risque de sa vie et par inconscience de gamin une colombe blanche arrivée ici on ne sait d'où. Les autres éleveurs amateurs de pigeons de la ville ont tôt fait d'apprendre la nouvelle et certains décident de s'en emparer. Une nuit donc des voleurs viennent prendre la Blanche, ainsi qu'est surnommée la colombe d'Ivan. Celui-ci se met en quête de la retrouver et découvre qu'elle est chez Kolia (dit le Tzigane), une « autorité » chez les colombophiles. Le jeune garçon grâce à sa malice parvient à reprendre son bien, mais comprend que l'oiseau est condamné et le remet en liberté.
