The Greyhound Limited is 1929 part-talkie crime drama and railroad theme film directed by Howard Bretherton and starring Monte Blue. Warner Bros. produced and distributed releasing the film in the Vitaphone process, with a music score and sound effects. The film is a follow up to the 1927 film The Black Diamond Express.

The film survives in the Library of Congress and Wisconsin Center For Film and Theatre Research, Madison Wisconsin.

Seventeen-year-old Tommy Ryan lives with Mrs. O‘Meara, a seamstress, and her teenage son Eddie. Tommy’s exact status is unclear; Mrs. O’Meara’s says he is a friend of her son Eddie and “stays here with us and a finer lad never trod the green earth.” Tommy works in a grocery store and more than pulls his weight around the O’Meara home, but his foster brother Eddie is unemployed and hanging around a pool hall with a gang of teenage thieves led by Mike Hearn, the pool hall owner.

Monte Blue, a young miner, manages to escape from some cannibals in the South Seas who have killed all of his companions. He arrives at the island of Samora with a bag of gold which he managed to save. Here he meets a brutal man, played by Noah Beery, and a pitiable woman, played by Betty Compson, who had been forced into a secret marriage with Beery. They both run a small hotel. Compson immediately sympathizes with the plight of Blue while Beery sets his greedy eyes on his gold. After the death of Compson's mother, Blue escapes with her to another island. Here they meet an exotic native girl, played by Myrna Loy, who falls in love with Blue and desperately tries to divert his love away from Compson. Eventually, Beery discovers the whereabouts of his wife and arrives on the island.

Charlotte "Charlie" Newton is a bored teenager living in the idyllic town of Santa Rosa, California. She receives wonderful news: her mother's younger brother (her namesake), Charlie Oakley, is arriving for a visit. Two men appear, supposedly working on a national survey. One takes a photo of Uncle Charlie, who demands the roll of film because "no one takes my photograph." The younger surveyor, Jack Graham, asks young Charlie out, and she guesses that he is really a detective. He explains that her uncle is one of two suspects who may be the "Merry Widow Murderer". Charlie refuses to believe it at first, but then observes Uncle Charlie acting strangely. The initials engraved inside a ring he gave her match those of one of the murdered women. During a family dinner he reveals his hatred of rich widows, comparing them to fat animals deserving to be slaughtered.

Kees Popinga est fondé de pouvoir chez un marchand hollandais de fourniture de bateaux à Groningue avec une femme et deux enfants il s'est peu à peu enfoncé dans l'ennui. Un soir, son patron lui apprend que son entreprise va déposer son bilan pour faillite frauduleuse. Se voyant ruiné, Kees Popinga voit son petit univers s'effondrer. Il décide de fuir son univers un peu mesquin et de faire des avances à Pamela, la maîtresse de son patron. Celle-ci ne l'accueillant qu'avec un rire moqueur, Kees, blessé dans son amour propre, la tue en voulant la faire taire. Il n'a alors plus d'autre solution que de quitter la Hollande, il s'enfuit donc à Paris. Ce sera pour lui l'occasion de vivre une vie en complète opposition avec son existence petite-bourgeoise qu'il a connu jusqu'alors. Il côtoie prostituées et petits malfrats, jusqu'à se faire dévaliser par un pick-pocket. Après une tentative de suicide manquée qui le livre nu aux mains de la police, il se retrouve interné en hôpital psychiatrique.
