Nimród E. Antal (pronounced: Neemrode; born November 30, 1973) is a Hungarian American film director, screenwriter and actor.
Il se fait connaître en 2003 avec le thriller hongrois Kontroll. Le film est présenté dans la sélection « Un certain regard » au Festival de Cannes 2004 et remporte le Gold Hugo Award au Festival international du film de Chicago.
En 2005, il retourne aux États-Unis pour poursuivre sa carrière à Hollywood. Son premier film américain, Motel, sort en 2007. Dans ce thriller d'horreur, on retrouve notamment Kate Beckinsale et Luke Wilson.
En 2009, il dirige Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, Laurence Fishburne, Amaury Nolasco et Fred Ward dans Blindés, un film sur des convoyeurs de fonds.
En 2010, le réalisateur-producteur Robert Rodriguez le choisit pour mettre en scène Predators, nouvelle suite de Predator, réalisé par John McTiernan en 1987. Dans ce nouveau film, Nimród Antal retrouve Laurence Fishburne. Topher Grace, Adrien Brody ou encore Danny Trejo sont également présents.

Biography
Nimród Antal est né à Los Angeles en Californie. Il part en Hongrie en 1991 pour étudier à l'École supérieure d'art dramatique et cinématographique (Színház- és Filmművészeti Főiskola) de Budapest. Après en être diplômé en 1995, il travaille pour le cinéma et la télévision.Il se fait connaître en 2003 avec le thriller hongrois Kontroll. Le film est présenté dans la sélection « Un certain regard » au Festival de Cannes 2004 et remporte le Gold Hugo Award au Festival international du film de Chicago.

L'histoire vraie du braqueurs de banque hongrois Attila Ambrus, extrêmement populaire en Hongrie, dont la particularité était de boire du whisky dans les bars pour se donner du courage avant ses braquages. Brutal gangster Dragna recruits professional killer Jack to pick up a bag and wait for his arrival at a motel. Dragna stresses that Jack is not to open the bag or allow anyone to view its contents under any circumstances. Confused as to why Dragna wants him to do such an apparently easy job, Jack presses for more details, but Dragna only reiterates the rules. The film opens with aerial footage of Vancouver and BC Place stadium with a radio DJ announcing Metallica's one-night-only concert. It then cuts to a heavy-metal fan driving into the empty parking lot and climbing on to the car's hood, whooping and laughing, but has difficulty due to his excessive weight. The film's main protagonist, Trip (Dane DeHaan) skates past the fan but wipes out. Trip is a roadie for Metallica. Skating into the underground parking and venturing into the dressing room halls, encounters each of the band members. Giving a brown paper bag to his supervisor, Trip is told to "stick around." Standing in the main stadium arena, he then walks at a typical pace with the audience filing in to the arena in a time lapse to Metallica's traditional opener, Ecstasy of Gold.

Ty Hackett (Columbus Short), an armed service veteran, is now an employee of Eagle Shield security, as a member of one of their many armored car transport teams. Now the legal guardian of younger brother Jimmy (Andre Kinney), the Silver Star recipient struggles to make ends meet. In a bar after an armored car prank heist played on Ty, his co-workers recount several historical attacks on armored cars. It is explained that Ashcroft (Fred Ward), their immediate supervisor, was once involved in an ambush, becoming the only survivor as he single-handedly killed five assailants. This story was topped by "a better" one of an armored car jacking in '88, wherein the guards surrendered the funds they were escorting in order to prevent the killing of a fellow guard; it concluded in the safety of all the guards and escape of the hijackers. The thieves were never caught, and the crew speculates that the escort team staged the attack.

On their way home from a family party, married couple David (Luke Wilson) and Amy Fox, (Kate Beckinsale) who are planning to divorce after their young son Charlie accidentally died, take a wrong turn on a remote mountain road. When their car breaks down, they discover they are lost in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone reception, and decide to start walking back to The Pinewood Motel where they had earlier consulted with a mechanic about noises with the car. The couple arrive at the motel where there are no other cars parked. At the counter desk, they couple hear piercing screams coming from the back room which makes Amy reluctant to stay. The motel manager, Mason (Frank Whaley) then appears and explains that the noises are coming from the television. The couple then book a room for the night.
