The House That Would Not Die is a 1970 made-for-television horror film starring Barbara Stanwyck (in her television film debut), Richard Egan, Michael Anderson, Jr. and Katherine Winn which premiered as the ABC Movie of the Week on October 27, 1970.
Henry Farrell, author of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, wrote the teleplay based on the 1968 novel Ammie Come Home by Barbara Michaels, one of several pseudonyms used by author Barbara Mertz.
Synopsis
Ruth Bennett (Barbara Stanwyck) has inherited an old house in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where she moves in with her niece Sara (Katherine Winn). The house was built during the Revolutionary era and is said to be haunted by the spirits of its original inhabitants who are disinclined towards hospitality. With the help of Pat McDougal (Richard Egan), a local professor and one of his students, Stan Whitman (Michael Anderson Jr.), they delve into the history of the house and find a scandal that involves a revolutionary war general and his daughter whose spirits take possession of Sara and Pat's bodies.Actors

Susan Wilcox (Barbara Parkins) is a young woman who was raped by an unknown man when she was a 13-year-old. Traumatized by the experience, she suffered a mental breakdown, did not speak a word for two years, and was entered in a Swiss sanatorium. Upon leaving the psychiatric institution for the first time, she returns to her old home where her mother Miriam (Barbara Stanwyck) is now in an unstable marriage with Harold Jennings (William Windom), an alcoholic. Susan returns to the woods where she was raped, and is followed there by someone. She suspects that this person is Harold, but Miriam tells her that Harold left her the previous night.

For several generations the Parks family lived on a quiet hillside where Katelyn's grandfather and her father (Mike Daly) were keepers to the town's lighthouse. At the age of ten, Katelyn watched her mom enter the basement in their lighthouse home where minutes later she was brutally beaten and found dying on the floor. Her father, Christopher (Mike Daly), was arrested and convicted for the killing, and Katelyn placed in foster care out of town. Two romantic couples, consisting of four teenagers, decide to spend a weekend together located in a remote cabin found in the woods. An unseen force stalks and watches the group without their knowledge. Ellen (Ellen Sandweiss) and her boyfriend Bruce (Bruce Campbell) enter the woods to have a picnic lunch. The other couple, Scotty (Scott Spiegel) and Shelly (Mary Valenti), remain at the cabin playing Monopoly to pass time. During their lunch, Bruce announces to Ellen that they're camping on an Indian burial ground. Ellen is concerned, but Bruce assures her that they will be fine as long as they don't disturb the graves of the dead. Bruce then explores the area and discovers an ancient dagger belonging to the Indians. Ignoring his own advice, he takes the dagger with him.
