Add to a movie listThe Indian Tomb aka. Journey to the Lost City, or in original German, Das indische Grabmal, is a 1959 German-French-Italian adventure drama film directed by Fritz Lang.
It is the second of two films comprising what has come to be known as Fritz Lang's Indian Epic; the other is The Tiger of Eschnapur (Der Tiger von Eschnapur). The film was based on the novel Das indische Grabmal, written by Lang's ex-wife, Thea von Harbou, who had died in 1954.
In 1960 American International Pictures obtained the rights to both films and combined them into one film called Journey to the Lost City.
Synopsis
Recueillis par une caravane, Henri et Seetha sont soignés par des villageois. Mais ils sont trahis par certains villageois attirés par une forte récompense. Ils se réfugient dans une grotte des collines. Une statue de Shiva se trouve dans la grotte et Seetha lui rend hommage, alors qu'Henri n'en tient pas compte. De ce fait, ils sont retrouvés par les hommes de Chandra, le maharadjah d'Eschnapur. Seetha est faite prisonnière, tandis qu’Henri fait une chute en apparence mortelle.Actors

The tale begins when architect Harold Berger (Paul Hubschmid) arrives in India to meet with Maharaja Chandra (Walter Reyer), for whom he will build schools and hospitals. En route to the Maharaja's palace, Berger meets a dancer named Seetha (Debra Paget) and saves her from a tiger. Seetha, whose father was European, is promised to the Maharaja, but she and the architect begin to fall in love. Predictably, this leads to a buildup of tension between Chandra and Berger, helped along by scheming palace courtiers. The film is also filled with action, and a highlight of it is Seetha's first ritual dance. At the end of Tiger, Seetha and Berger are imprisoned but escape into the desert just as Berger's sister and her husband, also an architect who works with Berger, arrive in Eschnapur. Chandra informs them the plans have changed; he now wants a tomb to be built.

The title character Siegfried, son of King Siegmund of Xanten, masters the art of forging a sword at the shop of Mime. Mime sends Siegfried home, but while preparing to leave, Siegfried hears the tales of the kingdom of Burgundy, the kings who rule there, as well as of Kriemhild, the princess of Burgundy. Siegfried announces he wants to win her hand in marriage, much to the amusement of the smiths. By way of physical violence, Siegfried demands to be told the way. Mime, who is envious of Siegfried's skill as a swordsmith, claims there is a shortcut through the Wood of Woden; in reality, this route will lead Siegfried away from Burgundy and expose him to attack from the magical creatures inhabiting the wood. During his journey, Siegfried discovers a dragon, and deviates from his path to slay it. He touches its hot, yellow blood and understands the language of the birds, one of which tells him to bathe in the dragon's blood in order to become invincible to attack — except for one spot on his shoulder blade, which is missed after being covered by a falling lime (linden) leaf.

Liliom Zadowski is a barker at Madame Muscat's carousel. A rival barker named Hollinger tries to get Liliom in trouble by telling the jealous Mme. Railroad supervisor Carl Buckley (Broderick Crawford) gets fired from his job. He persuades his seductive wife to pay a visit to an important railroad customer in order to try to get his job back. Eddie Taylor (Henry Fonda) is an ex-convict who cannot get a break after being released from prison. He marries but is then wrongly convicted for a bank robbery in which six people are killed. He is sentenced to death by electrocution. On the eve of his execution a gun smuggled into the execution area enables him to escape. During the escape he unintentionally kills the prison chaplain. The chaplain was trying to convince Eddie that he has had a last minute pardon. This is because the body of the guilty bank robber and the getaway vehicle with the stolen money have just been recovered from a lake.
