Synopsis
The innkeeper Mirandolina is a beautiful girl, and for her beauty the Count of Albafiorita (Conte di Albafiorita) and the Marquis of Forlimpopoli (Marchese di Forlimpopoli) fall in love. The two noble customers bestow rich gifts to her, trying to ingratiate and to marry her, but the crafty Mirandolina only accepts the money and jewels, leaving them with an inch of them nose. A third man arrives on the scene: the Knight of Ripafratta (Cavaliere di Ripafratta) extremely misogynist, who thinks that the woman bears only man trouble. Mirandolina, who has never seen a man like that, tries to do it on purpose and the knight manages to fall in love with her.Actors

Rome, 1800. Rugantino is a fool in love that rages eternal, though he is very unlucky in love stories and fruitful occasions. In fact he is denounced for trying to rob the elderly uncle of inheritance, apparently believed in the end of life, then Rugantino is beaten and sentenced to public torture of a squire. In fact Rugantino is in love with his young wife Rosetta, and this is the main character more than once, after having served the sentence, persecuted by justice and by the criminals. Rosetta however seems to love Rugantino, given his innocence and his ineptitude, but the young man, when he is accused of murder of an important lord of Rome, is sentenced to death. His fate is sealed, and after spending a few weeks in jail, Rugantino is beheaded.

In a restaurant six waiters are abandoned by their senior boss (Ciccio Ingrassia) who goes to the hospital for an illness. The film is divided into four episodes. In the first Paolo Villaggio plays the role of a sailor from Genoa who learns from his doctor that he will soon become a woman. He begins to make plans and to daydream of what it will be like to be a woman. In the second episode Adriano Celentano is a former dancer in Emilia Romagna who now trains a woman for boxing fights. When he meets a beautiful emilian girl who is enrolling in a dance competition where a large sum of money will be awarded to the winners, Adriano does not miss the opportunity. He first tries to kill the boxer woman he works with, called "King Kong" and then leaves to go dancing with the girl, winning one turn after another. But as the couple wins the first prize Adriano is arrested by the police. In the third episode Renato Pozzetto plays the role of a poor mason from Milan who bets with some friends that he will be able to seduce the wife of his boss. Renato will succeed but will pay the consequences. In the last episode Alberto Sordi plays the role of hick Roman Nando Moriconi (same character of the film Un americano a Roma by Steno - 1954), this time he works as a body guard of a prominent Italian financier who has been the victim of many attempts to kidnap him .
