Add to a movie listThe International (Turkish: Beynelmilel) is a 2006 Turkish comedy-drama film, directed by Muharrem Gülmez and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, about a group of local musicians preparing to play at a large military parade in a small town near Adana, Turkey. The film, which went on general release across Turkey on December 29, 2006 (2006-12-29), won awards at film festivals in Adana, Ankara, Istanbul and Thessalonika. It was also entered into the 29th Moscow International Film Festival.

Synopsis
In 1982 a small town near Adana prepares to host a large military parade. A group of local musicians are to perform at the event. Gülendam, the daughter of Abuzer, one of the musicians is getting ready for university. Her boyfriend Haydar who is a left wing activist and his friends hatch plot to replace the track to be played with The Internationale.Actors

Team America: World Police, a paramilitary anti-terrorism force, has a home base located inside Mount Rushmore. The team comprises Lisa, a psychologist; Carson, her love interest; Sarah, an alleged psychic; Joe, a jock who is in love with Sarah; and Chris, a martial arts expert who harbors a deep mistrust of actors. The team is led by Spottswoode and a supercomputer named I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E.. Having tracked down a group of terrorists in Paris, France, the team inadvertently destroys the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre during a huge gun battle, causing more destruction than the terrorists could have ever dreamed of. The team, however, regard this as a success. Carson proposes to Lisa, but a surviving terrorist guns him down. As a replacement, Spottswoode recruits Gary Johnston, a Broadway actor with college majors in Theater and World Languages. Unbeknownst to the team, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il is supplying international terrorists with weapons of mass destruction.

Set in 1969, the film follows the true story of Elliot Tiber (Demetri Martin), an aspiring Greenwich Village interior designer whose parents, Jake (Henry Goodman) and Sonia (Imelda Staunton), own the small dilapidated El Monaco Resort in White Lake, in the town of Bethel, New York. A hippie theater troupe, The Earthlight Players, rents the barn, but can hardly pay any rent. Klim Yarko rentre en Ukraine par le train après son service militaire effectué dans une unité blindée. Il avoue aux camarades qui voyagent avec lui ne pas savoir où s'installer, car sans famille il n'est attendu par personne. Il a toutefois une idée. Dans une gazette, il est tombé sur la photo de Mariana Bajan qui dirige une brigade de tractoristes dans un kolkhoze. Il se rend donc à ce kolkhoze à la tombée de la nuit. En chemin, il découvre Mariana qui vient de faire une chute de moto. Il lui porte secours et rentre avec elle au village. Les jeunes gens sympathisent. Klim en tant que bon mécanicien est très bien accueilli par le directeur du kolkhoze Kirill Petrovitch. Toutefois il ne sait pas que, pour repousser les prétendants à son cœur, Mariana avait demandé à l'un des kolkhoziens, un certain Nazar Douma, de se présenter comme son fiancé. Celui-ci prend son rôle très au sérieux et, un matin, essaye de chasser Klim comme les autres. Klim décide de partir, mais à la suite d'un concours de circonstances il devient brigadier de l'unité concurrente de Mariana et chef de Nazar. Nazar n'est pas bien noté par Kirill Petrovitch qui demande à Klim d'améliorer la discipline et le rendement de sa brigade, pour que le fiancé de Mariana devienne un kolkhozien modèle digne de la main de leur meilleure travailleuse. Klim réussit cette mission, mais alors que Kirill Petrovitch évoque dans son bureau la préparation du mariage, il envoie valser les meubles et se met à hurler que ni Nazar ni aucun autre ne se mettra entre lui et sa bien-aimée. Kirill Petrovitch n'en paraît nullement perturbé, il est prêt à donner sa bénédiction à tous les amoureux pourvu qu'ils soient de parfaits tractoristes. Le film se termine par la scène du grand mariage où tout le monde chante des chansons patriotiques et lève son verre vers le portrait du camarade Staline.

The film is based on the true story of the Windmill Theatre in London. Eccentric 70-year-old widow Mrs Laura Henderson purchases it as a post-widowhood hobby and appoints autocratic manager Vivian Van Damm. In 1937, they start a continuous variety revue called "Revudeville", but after other theatres in London copy this innovation, they begin losing money. Mrs Henderson suggests they add female nudity, similar to the Moulin Rouge in Paris, which is unprecedented in the United Kingdom. The Lord Chamberlain (Rowland Baring, 2nd Earl of Cromer) reluctantly allows this under the condition that the nude performers remain immobile, so the performances can be considered art, the equivalent of nude statues in museums.

Six cheerful young men work hard during the Second Sino-Japanese War constructing a highway which will enable the Chinese army to send men and logistics to the frontline against the Japanese. Deputy Hu, a hanjian, initially tries to bribe them, but later locks them up in a cell when they refuse to halt the construction and flee. Two girls from a local eating house who befriend them manages to rescue them, but one of the six men died in the process. The workers finish the highway on time, but end up sacrificing their lives after being gunned down by Japanese fighter jets once their work is completed.

While General George Washington is conducting the struggle against the British Empire on the battlefield, the Continental Congress in Philadelphia piddles away its time over trivial matters and continually refuses to begin debating the question of American independence. The leader of the independence faction is the abrasive John Adams of Massachusetts, whose continuous pushing of the issue has brought their cause to a complete standstill. John Dickinson of Pennsylvania leads the opposition that hopes for reconciliation with England. During his quieter moments, Adams calls up the image of his wife Abigail Adams who resides in Massachusetts and gives him insight and encouragement (These conversations are based on letters between the couple). Dr. Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania suggests another colony that supports independence should submit a proposal.
