Add to a movie listThe Majorettes is a 1986 horror and slasher film. It was filmed at Cornell High School in the Pittsburgh suburb of Coraopolis. It was directed by S. William Hinzman who starred in George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead. It was written and produced by John A. Russo, from his own novel.
The football coach was played by then head-coach of the Cornell Raiders, Wilbert Roncone (billed as "Wilbur Roncone").
The movie is about a murderer who has been mysteriously killing the members of the school's majorette squad.
The Majorettes is relatively noteworthy for its midway plot shift during which the protagonist, Jeff Halloway (Kevin Kindlin) arms himself and besieges a biker gang (metaphorically "going Rambo" on them) to avenge crimes that they, not the slasher, committed. Such a twist is atypical of slasher films, which tend to follow a strict plot pattern.
Synopsis
Elles sont bien mignonnes les majorettes qui s'entrainent au lycée, après les cours, sous la conduite de Marie Morgan. Somewhere in Wichita, Kansas, David is a potential college football star who's just won a four-year scholarship to a college somewhere in Oklahoma. His mates decide to throw him a serious farewell party while his parents are out that night, including D.B, Russell, Joni, Lisa, Frannie, Doug, Chris, Brenda, Mason and Chuck. In a small Texas town, a mentally ill John Kirby (Brian Libby) goes insane and kills two members of a family he was staying with. Sheriff Daniel "Dan" Stevens (Chuck Norris) and his deputy Charlie (Stephen Furst) respond and eventually arrest Kirby, but Kirby breaks out of the handcuffs, overpowers the other officers and grabs one of their revolvers, forcing the officers to open fire and shoot Kirby. Kirby suffers severe gunshot wounds and is near death.

In New York City, a waitress on her way home is assaulted by two muggers and seeks aid from a police officer, who breaks her neck. Over the next two nights, this "Maniac Cop" commits more murders, prompting Lieutenant McCrae (Tom Atkins), who was told by his superiors to suppress eyewitness accounts that the killer was wearing a police uniform, to pass on information to a journalist, in an attempt to protect civilians. On January 1, 2008 at the Xcalibur Bowling Centre, a disco-themed bowling alley in Surrey, British Columbia, Egerton, the janitor, has allowed two groups of teenagers to bowl against one another after hours. The "prep", Steve, is still bitter after his best friend Jamie, the "jock", had sex with Lisa, a girl with whom Steve was smitten and even took to their senior prom. After Steve and his friends Joey, Patrick, and A.J. harass the "tranny", Sam, they are chastised by Jamie. This leads to a brawl between Steve's team and Jamie's. Lisa breaks up the fight by dropping a bowling ball on Steve's foot just as Steve is about to kick Jamie again. Egerton, brandishing a shotgun, tells the teenagers to leave and they can continue their tournament the following night.

Madison Penrose's sweet sixteen is coming up. She wants to have her birthday party at the Roller Dome, a once popular roller skating rink with a violent history to match. She and her parents go so far as to hire a party planner (Chad McKnight). A few days before the party, while alone in the Roller Dome, he hears a strange noise and asks if anybody is there. The scene then flashes back to 1999, where Charlie Rotter (Alex Van) is the owner and entertainer of the Roller Dome. (He is known as "Lord of the Rink.") One day, he is humiliated by an ungrateful teenage boy named Craig (Damien Haas), who slaps the cake out of Rotter's hands and rips his mask off in front of everybody, including his six-year-old daughter, Skye (Lauren Eichner).
