Synopsis

Pendant les années 80, un vieil homme, Calvin Barr (Sam Elliott), vit ses derniers jours dans sa ville natale, avec son chien. Barr se souvient de son passé pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, alors qu'il servait en tant que soldat des forces spéciales pendant une mission pour assassiner Adolf Hitler; il réussit sa mission, mais l'opération fut classée secrète et ne fut jamais révélée au grand public. Barr continue ses activités quotidiennes, en particulier rendre visite au salon de coiffure de son frère Ed (Larry Miller), quand il tient tête à un gang de voyous qui essaye de voler sa voiture et est suivi par de mystérieux hommes dans une voiture du gouvernement.

After learning that the Gestapo has arrested Major General Hans Oster, he orders General Olbricht (Nighy) to find a replacement. After recruiting Stauffenberg into the German Resistance, Olbricht presents Stauffenberg at a meeting of the secret committee which has coordinated previous attempts on Hitler's life. The members include General Ludwig Beck (Stamp), Dr. Carl Goerdeler (McNally), and Erwin von Witzleben (Schofield). Stauffenberg is stunned to learn that no plans exist on the subject of what is to be done after Hitler's assassination.
