Add to a movie listThe Master and Margaret (Serbo-Croatian: Мајстор и Маргарита, Majstor i Margarita, Italian: Il maestro e Margherita), is a 1972 Italian-Yugoslav film directed by Aleksandar Petrović.
The film is an adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's 1940 novel The Master and Margarita, although it mainly focuses on the parts of the novel set in 1920s Moscow.
It won the Big Golden Arena for Best Film, with Bata Živojinović picking up the Golden Arena for Best Actor at the 1972 Pula Film Festival, and was selected as the Yugoslav entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 45th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.

The protagonist, Bora (Bekim Fehmiu), is a charming but mean-spirited gypsy, while his older wife, Lence (Olivera Vučo), is submissive. Bora is in love with the younger Tisa (Gordana Jovanović), who is being offered in marriage by her father. The two get themselves in trouble and eventually have to flee. Tisa rejects her husband and she and Bora get married in the church. Tisa tries to get to Belgrade, while Bora stabs a man in a knife fight. They are both, therefore, exiled from their Romani camp, yet their adventures continue.

Will Randall is bitten by a wolf while driving home in Vermont. Afterwards, he is demoted from editor-in-chief of a publishing house when it is taken over by tycoon Raymond Alden, who replaces him with Will's protégé Stewart Swinton. The film starts out with 13-year-old Valerie (Schallerová) sleeping in a gazebo. A thief comes in the night and steals her earrings; when she goes to investigate, she sees a horrific man before he covers his face with a weasel mask.
