Synopsis

Steve Mallory sort indemne, mais amnésique, d'un accident où sa voiture est tombée dans un fleuve. Durant trois jours, il va de découvertes en surprises. Il apprend qu'il est marié à Alexandria, fille d'Austin Parsons, fondateur de la société des porcelaines Parsons qui, devenu paralysé, a confié à son gendre la direction de l'entreprise familiale alors que le neveu Oliver Parsons convoitait le poste. Steve découvre qu'il avait une passagère dans sa voiture, Holly Mitchell, serveuse de bar soupçonnée d'être sa maîtresse et retrouvée morte dans l'accident. Le veuf, Aldrich, l'accuse de meurtre ainsi qu'Oliver. Steve est alors appréhendé par la police et incarcéré. Mais Aldrich enlève Alexandria, menaçant de la tuer pour venger la mort de sa femme. Steve réussit à s'évader et parvient à délivrer Alexandria. Tandis qu'Aldrich est arrêté, l'enquête révèle qu'Holly est morte noyée.

First Lieutenant Jake Tanner (Jan-Michael Vincent) shares ICBM silo duty at an American air force missile base in the Californian desert with Major Eugene "Sam" Denton (George Peppard), who is requesting not to work with him. On their way to duty, Denton talks to Airman Tom Keegan (Paul Winfield), an aspiring artist. When the United States detects incoming nuclear missiles from the Soviet Union, Tanner and Denton launch part of the retaliatory strike. The United States is hit hard, although it manages to intercept 40% of Soviet missiles.

De Havilland plays Laura Wynant, a wealthy former mental patient who has travelled to her country estate to recuperate. While there, she discovers that a woman has been buried alive on her property. Wynant tries to inform others of what she has found but nobody believes her, and her family begins to suspect a relapse in her mental condition. Because her hands are nearly crippled by arthritis, she is not able to dig the woman up herself. She tries to trick a local boy into assisting her by telling him she is digging for a lost bracelet but is forced to tell him the truth, resulting in a confrontation with his angry father. While going door-to-door to seek help, she encounters the buried woman's husband, who had in fact buried her after striking her on the head with a shovel and thinking her dead. Wynant is confined to home under doctor's orders and, in a fit of anger, experiences a spontaneous recovery from the arthritis in her hands. She begins to dig up the buried woman, who is still alive, but the murderous husband finds her. The authorities arrive in time and Wynant and the buried woman are rescued.
