The Unearthly (1957) is a science fiction/horror film written by Jane Mann and John D.F. Black, with characters originally created by Edward D. Wood, Jr.. The film was produced and directed by Boris Petroff for AB-PT Pictures, and starring John Carradine, Allison Hayes, Myron Healey, Sally Todd, Marilyn Buferd, and Tor Johnson.
Buferd was Miss America 1946.
The film was mocked on the television show Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Synopsis
Le professeur Charles Conway est un savant fou qui espère découvrir le secret de la jeunesse éternelle en faisant des expériences sur des glandes situées dans le cerveau. Il utilise comme cobayes des personnes dépressives, sans familles et sans attaches, qui pensent être soignées pour leur dépression. Toutefois, les expériences du Pr. Conway tournent mal et ses cobayes deviennent des sortes de zombies…Actors

During a space flight to Saturn, three astronauts are exposed to a blast of radiation which kills two of them and seriously injures the third, Steve West (Rebar). He is next shown unconscious in a hospital back on Earth, with bandages covering his face; his physician, Dr. Loring (Lisle Wilson), cannot explain what is happening to West or how he survived the blast. After the doctor leaves, West awakens and is horrified to find the flesh on his face and hands melting away. Hysterical, he attacks and kills a nurse (Bonnie Inch), then escapes the hospital in a panic. Loring and Dr. Theodore "Ted" Nelson (DeBenning), a scientist and friend of West, discover that the nurse's corpse is emitting feeble radiation, and realize West's body has become radioactive. Nelson believes West has gone insane, and concludes he must consume human flesh in order to slow the melting. Nelson calls General Michael Perry (Healey), a United States Air Force officer familiar with West's accident, and the general agrees to help Nelson find him.

The hand of an exploded astronaut takes on a life of its own. Near a spacecraft crash site, a naive young med student discovers a disembodied hand and takes it home as a grisly souvenir. He is not aware that the hand is possessed by a strange, murderous alien who gradually begins to take over the hapless med student. One by one, townsfolk are found mysteriously strangled to death.
