Keepers (The Vanishing, littéralement « Les disparus ») est un thriller britannique réalisé par Kristoffer Nyholm, sorti en 2018. Il s’agit de l’adaptation d’un fait réel sur la mystérieuse disparition des gardiens du phare des îles Flannan en 1900.

Synopsis

En 1900, trois marins, James, Donald et Thomas, débarquent sur une île inhabitée au nord de l’Écosse afin de garder le phare. Jusqu'au moment où ils découvrent une barque échouée sur la rive. Ils y découvrent un homme inconscient et un mystérieux coffre scellé. Après que l'un d'entre eux assassine l'inconnu qui s'apprêtait à le tuer, ils s'aperçoivent qu'il transportait de l'or. Alors que James et Donald souhaitent s'en emparer, Thomas pense qu'ils doivent attendre un moment avant de se partager la marchandise. Mais la tension entre les trois hommes monte d'un cran lorsqu'ils réalisent que ce coffre attire toutes les convoitises. Deux étrangers, Boor et Locke, arrivent à leur tour sur l'île et questionnent les marins sur l'or retrouvé.

In a contemporary day alternate version of Rome, riots are in progress after stores of grain are withheld from citizens and civil liberties are reduced due to a war between Rome and neighbouring Volsci. The rioters are particularly angry at Caius Martius (Ralph Fiennes), a brilliant Roman general whom they blame for the city's problems. During a march, the rioters encounter Martius, who is openly contemptuous and does not hide his low opinion of the regular citizens. The commander of the Volscian army, Tullus Aufidius (Gerard Butler), who has fought Martius on several occasions and considers him a mortal enemy, swears that the next time they meet in battle will be the last. Martius leads a raid against the Volscian city of Corioles and during the siege, with much of Martius's unit being killed, Martius gathers reinforcements and the Romans take the city. After the battle, Martius and Aufidius meet in single combat, which results in both men being wounded but ends when Aufidius' soldiers drag him away from the fight.

Mikkel Hartmann, the cook on board the Danish merchant ship "Rosen", is anxious to return to his wife and child in Denmark. Jan Sørensen, the ship's engineer, asks him to bring a letter home to his family.
