Synopsis
Raja (Saif Ali Khan) is a notorious criminal mainly robbing well to do people. Amar (Akshay Kumar) is a macho police officer tracking him and willing to do anything to catch him. Roles are reversed when Amar loses his memory and ends up in a remote village where Raja is posing a police officer. They both team up to help the villagers from a ruthless man, Thakur Gajendar Singh (Amrish Puri).Actors

In the beginning, we see Jimmy Cliff (Saif Ali Khan), a call center executive who also teaches English, as the narrator. Pooja Singh (Kareena Kapoor) shows up outside his class and says she needs private tutoring. Without any hesitation, Jimmy quickly agrees as he has already fallen in love with her; he later finds out that Pooja's boss Bhaiyyaji (Anil Kapoor) is the one who has to be tutored. As their love grows, Pooja reveals that she is only working for Bhaiyyaji to pay her debts so she can then go to Haridwar to scatter her father's ashes. They decide to steal Bhaiyyaji's money and run away. The couple succeeds in their mission, and Jimmy asks Pooja to guard the money while he goes to the call center to tell them he is leaving.

Police Inspector Ram Yadav (Akshay Kumar) is an honest, handsome, and incorruptible young man. He lives with his sister-in-law, Shakuntala (Shashi Sharma), and elder brother, Raj (Anil Dhawan). When she refuses and humiliates him publicly, he retaliates by setting her on fire in broad daylight, in front of several college students. No one is bold enough to stop Janardan, nor even attempt to save the girl. When Ram finds out, he immediately arrests Janardan and holds him in custody. This enrages Appa Rao even more, and he schemes against Ram, a plot so devilish that will turn Ram's ordered life, his faith in the justice, and law of the country, upside down.

Elaan is a declaration of war against the reign of terror unleashed by the ganglords. The story revolves around an upright and principled Police Officer, A.C.P. Ramakant Chaudhary whose eldest son Vikas is killed in a pre-planned accident. But the A.C.P. is unable to nab the culprits for want of valid evidence. On the other hand, Vishal an angry young man, cannot stand this injustice since the police had failed to arrest his brother's killers, and he silently resents his A.C.P father's inaction in dealing with the culprits. The ideologies of the father and son clash – which lead to a conflict between a dutiful father and a reckless son. The only one who understands the agony of Vishal is Mohini, the daughter of head constable Devkinandan Sharma. The day comes when Vishal confronts Baba Khan and Manna Shetty which leads to tension and gory situation for the A.C.P., as the ganglords threaten to eliminate the A.C.P. as well as his wife Revati and son Vishal.
