The film is set in Italian-occupied Abyssinia following the recent Italian victory there. It was one of a sequence of eight films set in Italy's African Empire during the Fascist era that were released between 1936 and 1939. The film is a propaganda piece designed to support Fascist policy on empire and concerns about inter-racial romances.

Synopsis
Marco the owner of a coffee plantation in Abyssinia, is trying to play his part in building the new Italian Empire. He becomes concerned however that his Italian staff, in the absence of their wives and families, are becoming overly attracted to native woman. His junior partner Paolo has to resist the allures of Mailù, an attractive young Middle Eastern woman.Actors

Zénobie, reine de Palmyre, lutte contre Rome. Le consul Marcus Valerius envoyé par l'empereur Aurélien pour la combattre se laisse capturer. Aidé par le décurion Guiliano et la vestale Bethsabée, sœur du roi assassiné Odenath, il arrive à approcher la reine et veut gagner sa confiance en tentant un arrangement avec Rome. Mais la fidélité de Marcus Valerius à Rome prend le dessus et il rejoint Marcellus et définit un plan d'attaque contre Palmyre. Il revient vers Zénobie pour l'avertir des manœuvres de Semantius qui veut livrer la Syrie aux Perses. Devant l'insuccès de sa démarche et même si Zénobie et lui sont tombés amoureux, Marcus Valerius rejoint les armées romaines et battent les armées de la reine. Zénobie est conduite en captivité à Rome. Devant le Sénat romain, Marcus Valerius parvient à s'expliquer et à sauver la prisonnière. Elle reste captive mais il a le droit de l'accueillir dans sa propre maison. Bethsabée monte sur le trône de Palmyre.

Henrik, médecin français installé dans une région reculée du Maroc, a pour ami le caïd local, Si Lahssen. Ce dernier le présente aux habitants d'un village où règnent encore de vieilles superstitions, entretenues par la « sorcière » Fatima. Un des villageois, Moha, demande au médecin de soigner sa fille, Saadia, victime d'un mal indéfinissable. Une fois la jeune femme guérie, Henrik, qui est tombé amoureux d'elle, l'engage à ses côtés, afin qu'elle l'aide au dispensaire où il travaille. Mais une bande de pillards attaque le village. Saadia, animé par l'esprit de sacrifice, parvient à tuer leur chef, avant que des troupes françaises arrivent pour rétablir l'ordre. Si Lahssen, blessé est opéré par Henrik qui découvre que le caïd est lui aussi épris de Saadia, qui l'aime en retour. Henrik décide alors de renoncer à la belle Marocaine.
