Veluchami is a 1995 Tamil drama film directed by Arul. The film features Sarath Kumar, Vineetha and newcomer Shruthi in lead roles. The film had musical score by Deva and was released on 15 January 1995.

Synopsis

Veluchami (Sarath Kumar) was brought by Periya Ayya (Jaiganesh), a rich man, since his mother died and his uncle Maruthu (Delhi Ganesh) tried to sell him. Later, Periya Ayya's wife died while she was pregnant. By miracle, the baby was still alive. This baby girl named Chinnamma (Shruthi) was taken care by Veluchami.

Raja (Karthik) feels stifled under his strict father Col. Chandrasekhar (Jaiganesh) and when his father picks a girl he doesn't like for him to marry, it is the last straw and he runs away to Ooty. There he teams up with Vasu (Goundamani) and they come up with an ill-advised plan to kidnap Indu (Rambha), the daughter of Vishwanathan (Manivannan). Vishwanathan is in fact Col. Chandrasekhar's friend and it is Indu that Raja was supposed to marry. But Vishwanathan now mistakes Vasu to be his friend's son and takes him under his wing while Raja is hired to be his driver.

Alexander (Arjun) is a henchman who works for the smuggler Peter (Tiger Prabhakar) and Alexander is considered by Peter as his faithful henchman. Peter often confronts his enemy Ayyanar (Radha Ravi). Ayyanar forces the innocent Anu (Kushboo) to dance in stage and he ill-treats her. Peter orders Alexander to kill the Ayyanar's weak point Anu. Arun (Mohan), a prominent singer is in jail with a death sentence looming over his head. He meets Shanthi (Revathi) during one of his concerts, and is followed by her on many occasions into the jail and outside too. He shows nothing but animosity towards her behavior, and keeps pushing her out of sight. But Shanthi is persistent and does not give up either. An inmate named Maari attempts to escape from jail, but he is stopped by Arun. Maari later tells Arun about his sick daughter (Shekhina Shawn), and his inability to pay for her operation. Arun sympathises with him, and promises to raise funds for the sick child through his next concert, which he also plans shall be his final one.
