Victoria No. 203 is a 1973 Hindi film produced and directed by Brij. The film stars Navin Nischol, Saira Banu, Ranjeet, Anwar Hussain, Helen. Ashok Kumar and Pran play key supporting roles and earned the Filmfare nominations for the film.
The music by Kalyanji Anandji and the roles of Ashok Kumar and Pran made this a "superhit" at the box office. There was a Telugu remake titled Andaru Dongale (1974) starring Laxmi of Julie (1975) fame and Shobhan Babu and also a Tamil remake called Vairam with Jaishankar and Jayalalithaa. 1995 Kannada movie Giddu Dada is also inspired by this movie. A Hindi remake of the film produced by Brij's son Kamal Sadanah was released in August 2007.

Synopsis

Seth Durgadas is a rich businessman, revered by his son Kumar and society. In reality, Durgadas is the leader of a smuggling gang. As a trusted member of society, he gets all information, while his gang executes his plans. However, during one such robbery, a gang member turns greedy and flees with the diamonds. Durgadas sends another man to retrieve the diamonds and kill the traitor. The traitor is killed, but the killer too flees with the diamonds.

On a foggy night, Chandrashekhar (Navin Nischol), who is driving his car at high speed, meets with an accident. He walks to a nearby house to ask for assistance. When nobody answers the door, he enters the house and finds the dead body of a wheelchair-bound man. Standing nearby is a beautiful, young woman, Rani (Zeenat Aman), with a gun. She tells him that the dead man is her husband and she has murdered him. She asks Chandrashekhar to call the police. Intrigued, Chandrashekhar asks Rani to tell her what happened. She tells him that her husband, Thakur Ranjit Singh (Danny Denzongpa), was a cruel man who used to mistreat his family and used to shoot cats and dogs with his gun for amusement (which is why nobody in the house woke up upon hearing the gunshot). On this night, before Chandrashekhar arrived, they had an argument and when her husband threatened to shoot her, she tried to take the gun away from him. In the ensuing struggle, Ranjit got shot.

Chandan Singh is a dacoit living with in isolation with his followers Bhairav Singh, Mangal Singh and his wife Parvati amongst others. The police, led by Inspector Ajit Singh are fast on the track of Chandan Singh, and soon catch up with him. Chandan Singh is betrayed by his follower Bhairav Singh, who is killed by Chandan Singh, after he attempts molest Parvati. Mangal Singh shields and protects the son of Bhairav, Chaman, and both swear vengeance against Chandan Singh. Meanwhile, while escaping from the police in a boat, Ajit Singh shoots at Chandan Singh and the shot hits Parvati, who falls into the water, and her son, Suraj plunges in after her. Chandan Singh too dives in after them, but is unable to find them. Chandan Singh takes revenge on Ajit Singh's family and abducts his daughter, Radha, and Ajit's wife, Asha is killed accidentally. Years later Chandan Singh emerges as Dharma as well as Nawab Sikander, while Ajit Singh is now the Insepctor General of Police. Nawab Sikander goes to the prostitutions area and there finds Radha, who he recognizes and buys from the Madame, and brings her home, and asks Ajit Singh to be her father, to which he readily agrees as she looks just like his wife, Asha. Rajoo is a small time crook who works with Dharma, but has a change of heart when he falls in love with Radha, and swears to be a good person and through the guiding hands of his to-be father-in-law becomes a police inspector, and vows to arrest Chandan Singh. In the meantime, Mangal Singh, Chaman, and Chaman's girlfriend come upon Parvati, who lives in a temple. Chaman decides to impersonate himself as her son Suraj, and after successfully doing this he also manages to fool Dharma into believing that he is indeed their long lost son, vouched for by Mangal Singh.
