Soon, Kamini realizes that Radhika is Anil's second wife and her own son's stepmother. She longs to be with Prakash and be a mother to him again. When he has an accident, she donates her own blood to save him and in the process, leaves behind her selfish nature. In the end, Anil doesn't give her the second chance to be a mother to Prakash. Heartbroken, she says goodbye to her son as he leaves with Anil and Radhika.

Vijaykamal (played by Sanjeev Kumar) is a son of a rich Thakur Suraj Singh but has lost his mind. He sees his lover Sapna marry his neighbour Bihari (played by Shatrughan Sinha) and then commit suicide on the night of the Diwali party hosted by Bihari. This incident puts Vijay in shock. Thakur believes that if Vijay gets married, his mental health would improve. He hence approaches a tawaif Chand (played by Mumtaz) to pretend to be Vijay's wife and thus help him get better. But Chand receives cold treatment by Vijay's mother and his elder brother Kishore. Once, in a fit of madness, Vijay sexually assaults Chand. But later Chand becomes very friendly with Vijay and that starts improving his condition.

The film is about misunderstandings between a Grandfather and his five grandchildren and how Ravi(Jeetendra), tutor to grandchildren succeeds in removing them and marrying Rama(Jaya Bhaduri), eldest of them. Ravi, being an unemployed youth immediately agrees to tutor grandchildren of Rai Saheb (Pran), job settled by his uncle. His aunt tells him about how children made every other tutor to run away. Children led by their eldest Rama, try to tease Ravi by using their standard tactics. To their surprise, Ravi not only takes them lightly, but also supports them in front of their great aunt, Sati devi. They gradually get closer and Ravi even takes them out regularly to play. Ravi and Rama grow close to each other. Gradually he comes to know that their father Nilesh (Sanjeev Kumar), a talented musician, married without the consent of Raj Saheb, which created acrimony between son and father, further led to Nilesh leaving his father's house forever. He faced bitter poverty with his wife and five children later led to the death of his wife and himselves. Children became orphans and Raj Saheb brought them to his house though they hated him. Gradually, children understand that their parents death wasn't the mistake of their grandfather and there lies a soft emotion for them behind the disciplinary attire of his. At last Raj Saheb comes to know the romance between Ravi and Rama, and immediately gives his consent, not to repeat his mistake. End credits indicate that there will be a wedding between them.

How the family values, proper education, righteousness and eternal bond between the brothers help them getting together forms the rest of the story.
