Wetlands (German: Feuchtgebiete) is a 2013 German drama film and directed by David Wnendt. It is based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Charlotte Roche. The film premiered in International competition at the 2013 Locarno International Film Festival on August 11, 2013.
The film later premiered in-competition in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival on January 18, 2014. After its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Strand Releasing acquired the US distribution rights for the film.
Synopsis
18-year-old Helen uses vegetables for masturbation and believes that body hygiene is overrated in our society. She provokes others by saying and doing things most people would not even dare to imagine.Actors

Set in Rome and its surroundings, the film tells in a frighteningly realistic, ruthless and grotesque the evil of two powerful men of Italy in the seventies: a Director of illegal buildings (Vittorio Gassman), extremist fascist, and an upright judge, cynical looking in part to the Italian law (Ugo Tognazzi). Both can not stand each other, given the contrasts between the two men in any social, political and philosophical. Everyone hates each other and would like to delete it, but just because of the bad example that the two men give power to the people, many Italians are adversely affected because of cheating and rudeness of the fascist manufacturer and the communist magistrate. The director Dino Risi underlines the misdeeds and the weakness of the Italian people to react accordingly, by focusing on the story of these two men who are each other's opposite of the net.

A blind Italian captain, accompanied by his aide Ciccio, who has been assigned to him by the army, is on his way from Turin to Naples to meet with an old comrade who was also disfigured in the same military incident. Unknown to his aide, the Captain means to fulfill a suicide pact there. While they journey, the Captain asks Ciccio to help him spot beautiful women. Unsatisfied with the boy's descriptions, he uses his nose instead, claiming that he can smell a beautiful woman. During their journey, he carries with him a picture of his beloved Sara, whom he could not bear to have see him disfigured and helpless. The suicide pact is eventually thwarted once Sara enters the picture, and the boy Ciccio does some much-needed growing up.

The Flemish boys Lars, Philip and Jozef are somewhere between 20 and 30 years of age and each has a physical handicap. Jozef is almost blind and needs to use a magnifier. Philip suffers from paraplegia. He can only move his head and can use one hand which gives him the strength to control his automated wheelchair. Lars has an incurable brain tumor a side effect of which is that he is restricted to a wheelchair as a result of his increasing paralysis. The three are good friends and visit each other frequently.

The story begins in Rwanda where a football fanatic Dudu Kayenzi is teaching a group of children how to make an "organic football" using a UN condom, plastic bag and string. Meanwhile, his best friend and football prodigy Fabrice longs to pursue his ambition of becoming an association football legend and is seen breaking the local record for the most continuous football kick-ups. When Fabrice is offered the chance to audition for the opening ceremony of the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa, he fabricates a plan to sneak past his strict, wealthy parents with Dudu and Dudu's sister Beatrice. Lorsqu'elles étaient petites, les sœurs Tauber, Jessica et Sophie, ont été témoins du meurtre de leurs parents assassinés sous les yeux par des cambrioleurs. Délinquante paranoïaque, celle-ci s'est immiscée dans la vie de sa petite sœur en la surprotégeant. Leur relation toxique s'envenime encore plus lorsqu'elles apprennent que les cambrioleurs vont être relâchés de prison. Lors d'une dispute, Sophie et Jessica ont un violent accident de voiture et Jessica y perd la vie. Sophie tente de reprendre une existence normale, libérée du poids de la présence de sa sœur. Elle se lit d'amitié avec un infirmier et commence une relation avec lui. Mais petit à petit, Sophie ressent la présence de Jessica à ses côtés. Même morte, il semble bien que Jessica veuille toujours veiller sur Sophie dont la personnalité se dédouble au point de devenir schizophrène... Possédée par l'esprit de la défunte, Sophie s'apprête à se venger de la mort de leurs parents.
