It premiered in competition at the 2007 Berlin Film Festival where it was nominated for the Golden Bear and later screened at the SXSW Film Festival.
Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan contributed three previously unreleased songs to the film's soundtrack: "Shangra-La", "Sky of Blue", and "Whisper".
Synopsis
Bill est un gardien de nuit solitaire. Il fait le ménage dans un immeuble de bureaux en écoutant de l'opéra sur son walk-man. Gary est un homme marié qui a pris l'habitude de dormir dans un des box de son lieu de travail afin d'éviter de rentrer chez lui. Son mariage avec sa femme Karen étant devenu chaotique. Celle-ci se laisse aller à ses penchants cleptomanes. Un soir, au détour d'un couloir Gary reconnaît Bill qui fut dans le passé son souffre-douleur au lycée. Il propose à son ancien camarade d'aller boire un verre avec un autre copain d'école, Travis. Les trois hommes se retrouvent et parlent de ce qu'il est advenu de leur vie.Actors

A dying man finds that horses, blondes, and the Mob may end his life faster than cancer. Joe (Billy Connolly) is a regular guy who runs a flower shop and has never had much in the way of good luck. Things seem to be grim for Joe when he's diagnosed with a brain tumor, but a bit of good fortune appears on the horizon when he wins a jackpot at the race track. However, Hush (Sharon Stone), an exotic dancer who has fallen deeply in debt to a gang of thugs, steals Joe's newly won fortune to pay them off. Joe gets his money back by explaining to the gangsters what happened, but only because they mistake him for a syndicate kingpin they've heard about but never met. When the gangsters discover that Joe is a florist and not a career criminal, they find the situation less than amusing.

Angela Anderson (Stone) buys a pair of large scissors from a hardware shop. On her way home she is attacked in the elevator of her apartment block by a red-bearded man, who she stabs with the scissors in self-defense. Mike Brennan, a tough, crude, decorated NYPD detective, has a hidden dark side as well as a partnership with certain figures of organized crime. Brennan shoots and kills a small-time Puerto Rican criminal and then threatens witnesses to testify that he acted in self-defense. The Commissioner of Police Kevin Quinn assigns the case to Deputy Attorney Aloysius "Al" Francis Reilly, a young lawyer with a past as a police officer and son of a well-known cop who died in service. Reilly collects Brennan's deposition, who claims to have been acting on a tip from an informant and was forced to shoot in self-defense. Reilly's case leads him to a Puerto Rican crime boss called "Bobby Tex," whose wife Nancy Bosch was once the love of Reilly's life. She ended their relationship years ago after interpreting Al's reaction of surprise as racist when she introduced him to her father, a black man. Al tries to rekindle their past romance, but she rejects him because with Bobby, she feels loved, protected and accepted for what she is.
