Majority of the plot is still unknown and is intended to be kept a secret until the film's release. However, a basic synopsis mentions the story is a chronicle of three generations of a Brahmin family in the ‘decaying reaches’ of Pune in pre-independence India. The synopsis stated at the Film Bazaar described the movie as "…an exploration of the darkness that both suffering and excess belie. Even as the country (India) was pacing towards light and freedom, an upper caste Brahmin family was following a path paved with gold but going into deathly darkness. Darkness which was stunned itself by the greed of a family.
