Bogdan Diklić (born 1 August 1953) is a Serbian actor active since the late 1970s who starred in over one hundred Yugoslav films and television series. Diklić made ten films with director Goran Marković. In August 2009, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award "Pavle Vuisic" for his body of work in Yugoslav cinematography.

Belgrade, 1999. Pera est projectionniste. A 40 ans, pourtant épris de Lela, son amour de jeunesse, il vit encore chez sa mère, Mara. The movie starts at a family dinner where Saša (Ana Franić), a discontent Belgrade Law School student who is still living with her parents, informs them about her decision to follow her boyfriend Stefan (Branislav Tomašević) to Canada since he had already accepted a job offer to coach water polo there. The parents who thought the young couple were about to announce their intention to get married can hardly hide their shock and disappointment at the unexpected turn of events. Saša's father Miloš (Bogdan Diklić), a conservative judge, is particularly not happy with the fact that she's leaving her studies. Saša also tells them that she's moving in with Stefan right away, even before her visa application is processed. The young couple then leaves the dinner in a bit of a huff.

The story takes place in June 1991 in Yugoslavia, only a few days before the outbreak of the Yugoslav War. Ratko (Srđan Todorović), a Bosnian Serb, leaves Belgrade prison and steals a red-coloured Mercedes-Benz truck. The fact that he's (almost pathologically) passionate about stealing trucks and driving them while at the same time being colour-blind brought him to prison in the first place. Suzana (Aleksandra Balmazović), an urban Belgrade girl, discovers she is pregnant and wants to do an abortion. As her father, who believes that the emerging chaos won't last, uses their money for a speculative investment, she decides to go to Dubrovnik to earn the money for abortion. After nearly running her over while she was hitch-hiking, Ratko decides to give her a lift.

The plot takes place in the small town of Tešanj in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, two years after the Bosnian War. The town is overridden by corruption, prostitution and organized crime. People of Tešanj live in peace, though the war scars are visible everywhere in town, as well as in people's souls. After the war, the population of Tešanj consists almost exclusively of ethnic Bosniaks. Ethnic Serbs now live in surrounding villages.
