The movie centres around a 16-year old Amit who is a class hero and an incredibly lucky student who attributes all his luck to his special gold coin. In the midst of central London, a successful Indian restaurant called 'Gaylord' is run by a Londoner of Indian origin called Pinu (Vinay Pathak) . A simple soul at heart, Pinu has many complexes - a special one being that he is a virgin and has experienced no intimacy with a woman. He agrees to come to India to have an arranged marraige with Payal (Snigdha Pandey), but is crest fallen when his Fiancée elopes on the wedding day, leaving a note behind ridiculing Pinu and his personality. This fuels Pinu's biggest fear of being laughed at by people... an ever-repeating phenomenon with him. Pinu is quite an introvert and has no real friends...the closest he has ever gotten to a friendship is with his foster brother Rajat (Siddharth Makkar), who is quite a contrast to his own personality. A casual air about him, he is the lead singer of a rock band. Rajat is very fond of Pinu, though is often a source of annoyance to him as he finds Pinu really funny.

Ek Vivaah... Aisa Bhi is the story of Chandni (Isha Koppikar) who belongs to a middle-class family living in Bhopal and Prem (Sonu Sood) who is an unconventional ghazal singer and hails from an upper-middle-class family. Chandni and Prem meet to practice for a Ghazal competition and fall in love. On the day of their wedding Chandni's dad dies leaving her younger brother and younger sister dependent on Chandni herself. Initially Chandni decides to leave the house and her siblings under the care of her uncle- however when she realizes that her unscrupulous uncle and aunt want only the house and care two hoots about her siblings, she decides to bring them up herself. Prem promises to wait for her and keeps assisting her in all her troubles- while at the same time having become a prominent & famous ghazal singer.

Rajiv (Shahid Kapoor) wants to be one of the popular kids of his college. However, due to the lack of a girlfriend, Danny (Shabhi) and Javed (Kapil Jhaveri) mock him. He decides to ask Payal (Amrita Rao), his childhood friend to become his girlfriend and tells her that he's in love with her. Payal returns her "feelings" and agrees, as she has been in love with him since their school days. Both of them accompany Danny, Javed and their girlfriends to a midnight picnic; however, Rajiv's drink is laced by Danny and, being intoxicated, he behaves badly with Payal. After the midnight picnic incident,Danny and Javed's girlfriends tries to clear misunderstanding by making Payal understand that Danny was the reason for Rajiv's misbehavior at drunken state,so Rajiv wasn't at fault. But they are not able to make up and their relationship falls apart. Rajiv's best friend Mambo(Vishal Malhotra),who was in support of Rajiv and Payal's friendly relation, does not like this and insists that he gets back with Payal.
