Henry William Walter Horseley "Harry" Beresford (4 November 1863 – 4 October 1944) was an English stage actor in London and New York before going on the screen. He was also a screen writer and novelist.
Harry Beresford started his acting career in 1880 on the London stage. He played in the West End as well as Broadway. His perhaps best-known theatre role was the town drunk Clem Hawley in the play The Good Old Soak. Between 1925 and 1938 he appeared as a supporting actor in fifty-six films, including The Sign of the Cross (1932), Doctor X (1932), I Cover the Waterfront (1933) and David Copperfield (1935). He often portrayed doctors, scholasts or scientists. His last film role was in 1938. As a novelist, he wrote the original story for the 1939 horse racing film Long Shot. Biography
